oV, 18 Jul 2023Well, here's 2 months after the release l, 2 weeks of ... moreThanks for this info. It's very interesting and useful advice. I currently have a TicWatch Pro 3 (still awaiting Wear OS 3) which appears to be losing battery power a lot more these days but that may also be down to the fact that I no longer have the original charging lead and bought a seemingly Compatible one from Amazon.
I hear great things about the Pro 5 and have been very tempted (especially as it's nearly ⅓ less than original RRP) for a while. However I also read that, unlike the latest Samsung galaxy watch it is not yet compatible with OS 4 (ahead of its time, you might say)
What you said about it updating out of the box is quite encouraging and I hope that it will not be too long before it is compatible with OS 4, though some reviewers have questioned whether it can be compatible with the more recent software.

Dometalican, 26 May 2023It's sad that this is the only globally available Wear... moreHaha! Sony's commitment to niche product launches is appalling (I have had both the smartband and its Smartwatch 2 which was released in conjunction with Brazil 2014 in a marketing blitz - it soon stopped supporting updates). This is from someone who has has pretty much been with Sony since its tie-up with Ericsson. The annoying thing is that the smartphones themselves have rarely disappointed in terms of spec which is basically why I have stuck with Sony as long as I have. The last smartphone I got (and still have) was the Xperia 1ii. A brilliant phone which, even though its software can't be updated, will hopefully last at least another year or so. However, it came bundled with a WENA smartwatch (very expensive normally when sold separately so I understand) which has been an utter disappointment (the actual watch, not the wristband) and looks to have been part of a faulty batch. Of course Sony disbanded with its own NFC payment facility on the watch soon after - and in that area it's not got a great record either (such as digital download store. Cloud storage etc). It should probably stick to its strengths and concentrate on what it does best, because what it does best it does very well where its smartphone devices are concerned.

Well, here's 2 months after the release l, 2 weeks of ownership.
When I bought it, there was an update already. It updates by night, be sure to have wifi active.
The Google assistant is missing because Google didn't allowed to be installed on other Android watches besides Samsung's and their.
It's gonna be a future update to activate it.
As for the watch experience, it's marvelous after you tinker with the settings.
I run allot, and this watch is fantastic for it. Great gps tracking, marvelous heart rate tracking, nearly perfect, better than most watches. The app isn't perfect, but I use Strava. I don't miss the the fact that you can't sync it with a heart rate chest strap, because it's perfect.
As of the android experience, it's the best it can be.
It's fluent and crisp.
I don't know about the updates, but the fact that it got one after one month, it's encouraging. Even dough I know they're lack of previous commitment in this area.
And the battery life it's incredible for an Android smartwatch.
Great watch for the money.

Yeah maybe but not by a lot. Samsung is notorious for under specing their things (2 year old chipset on w5p for instance)

robi10101298, 26 May 2023I would buy this to switch from Huawei Watch 3 pro, however... moreYes, personally I am far more excited to see what other decent makers come up with.
Hoping Fossil/Skagen Gen 7 Will use the new chip/ram combo. Maybe they might fix their fussy charger too!!

I would buy this to switch from Huawei Watch 3 pro, however, I don't like 3 things:
1) no wireless charging, in 2023 it's a shame
2) sht software support
3) not so great looking, it's not elegant...

Wan, 26 May 2023One thing for sure, never trust this brand, as they never u... moreI think they issued a press release that they are working on it but the problem is that they have a proprietary chip in the watch that is causing the difficulty.

I am a fan of their watches but their updates are pitiful and I will never purchase their brand again. Their customer service is awful also. These combined ruin the experience and previous customers will look elsewhere

Anonymous, 26 May 2023Samsung is the king of smartwatches and smartphones.Of course they are, what with the unfair duopoly in cahoots with google and all.

Khiyat Badr, 25 May 2023Yet it won't support Google Assistant at launch. I hop... moreThat is entirely googles fault tho. They refuse to support the g assist on wear os 3 on anything other than an exynos processor, so only galaxy watches and pixel watches.

It's sad that this is the only globally available Wear OS watch with the latest Snapdragon as Samsung and Google both use Exynos.
I was REALLY hoping Sony would have surprised us with a watch to challenge Mobvoi but nope...this is why Mobvoi can get away with their bad software updates as well as lack of wireless charging...

I really like the TicWatch Pro 5. Performance here is top-notch in the Wear OS world, and battery life is class-leading.
Mobvoi’s trademark dual-layer display is more useful than ever, and the rotating crown is a great addition.
I have just bought it

One thing for sure, never trust this brand, as they never updated their Ticwatch Pro 3 as promised. So basically they forced you to buy each new product they launched for them to gain profits.
