They want to void our warranty by repairing our device by ourselves.

Went to Samsung service centre they said I've to take risk if anything goes wrong while getting my Samsung A80 battery replaced so I denied and walked out.. Hope Samsung will also provide spare parts directly to consumers in India as well.

All in all it all comes down to companies whether they want to or not & engineers make it.

Then again where in an era of money making by making consumers buy new phones as short as possible.

apple or samsung does not matter. I don't understand why anyone would try to replace his own screen or battery instead of an experienced repair center. just to save $15-20 of service cost?

of course, there some people prefer easy backdoor / battery replacement over IP rating, but will more people prefer that over IP protection ?
considering we only need to replace battery every 3~years in normal usage

While ordering a part they ask all the device info and will ship the hardware which will be locked to your device only 🙂

This is an amazing news. I hope the same practice will spread to other countries as well. It will help to keep the devices longer.

Would've much easier if they make the backplates snap-on if they don't want to bring back removable batteries.

It seems like google has been the best with right to repair. At least google sells batteries by themselves, and supports older models from 2017+, and their parts aren't stupid expensive like apple & Samsung's official parts.
