Motorola Razr 40 Ultra ads appear on billboards in Europe

safin asa, 31 May 2023No, motorola have a 3 years old of support. I sure hope they will deliver on the most recent press releases of new phones. In example, the EDGE (2022) was promised to "receive three years of OS upgrades and 4 years of bi-monthly security updates". - From the Motorola Edge (2022) press release.
If only they hadn't deleted, or possibly just moved, the page of said press release. . . Oh, and it's currently still on Android 12 and we're supposed to believe it will get 13, 14 and 15 before the OS updates are over. Right. . .
Sadly, quite many Motorolas since 2020 have gotten one android OS update.
Take the G9 Plus from September 2020. It got only one android OS upgrade and security updates stopped in January 2022. So a year and a few months total support.
Not even Motorola EDGE got two updates. Only one upgrade from 10 to 11 and security updates stopped long ago. This was a premium price device when launched.
The RAZR lineup gets two updates, so far, but it seems to stop there. RAZR (2019) got from 9 to 11 only and RAZR 5G which was promised to get Android 13, did not. Not exactly amazing.
Let's see if the more recent phones gets better support.

The budget for marketing and billboard could be used for something useful like giving 5 years software support.
But, since motorola owned by chinese company, they only give 1 year software suppory instead.

Is there any new hardware that either flip will be debuting? If not, then these should've been made available in the first quarter of this year as they seem to be competing against the Flip 4 from last year.

That outer screen with 2 massive camera holes.. REALLY doesn't make it look good when chatting to someone on video. This is where Samsung gets it right. Although maybe it should have been a rectangle not a "folder" look.. either way..i prefer it to this

I'll wait for the next version for this that will have Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. That will take another year while most of the other 2024 flagships will have Gen 3 already including the Galaxy Z Flip 6. I'm a bit annoyed with the two camera punch holes getting in the way when viewing video content on that cover display whether upside-down or not. It's just there. That's as annoying as the iPhone notches. Foldable screens in general are still just a gimmick.
Currently using my iPhone SE (2022) but I'm considering swapping my sim back to my Flip 3. The battery life seems to be about the same and OLED helps on the Flip at brightest settings. Flip's battery is bigger which means it drains my power banks more. But it's not really about form factor on why I want to go back to it but OS. I simply prefer Android at least 7 out of 10 times in different situations. My Pixel 3's battery is even poorer than my Flip 3's, so I can't return to it.
Razr 40 Ultra looks kinda cool but I'll wait for next year's version. These foldable flips sell for $500 after 6 months and the novelty will wear off. No rush getting them right away.

If it was an Ultra, it would have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, a 50 MP wide sensor, a 50 MP ultrawide sensor, a 50 MP 5x periscope telephoto sensor and a 12.5 MP wide selfie sensor. It would also have a 6.9 inch 3440×1440 inner display and a 1453×1440 outer display. At present, it has none of these. I still like this phone in the sense that it's almost definitely the best flip phone in terms of specs, but it's still quite a joke.
Also, it should at minimum have a 4000 mAh battery, though preferably more. People saying space constraints are just kidding themselves. The much smaller Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 is going to have a 4000 mAh battery, so why not this? The two phones are so similar, with the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra being just a lot bigger.

Looks cool, but price is too high for last year chipset.
Better wait Flip 5 with 8 Gen2 with same or even sligtly less money
