No one would be silly enough to scalp this unlike GPUs and PS5s.

NickValok, 05 Jun 2023It's so pathetic to brag about selling out when you on... moreNot necessarily pathetic.
One has to seriously consider the competition of products of THIS specific category already in China and that many users could be switching or just new users. THAT is the more crucial data I'm after.

I was planning to get it after not wanting it initially because AT&T is offering $5 per month on it after 36 months. No trade-in required. Since I have no intention leaving AT&T for the next 3 years because I'm under ACP ($30 discount), it sounded like a great deal. But I just found out I need a minimum $75 monthly plan.
I was planning to get the Value Plus Plan for $50. My ACP would drop it to $20. But it's most likely that plan isn't eligible for promos like that. So instead of $25 monthly which I'm very willing to do, it goes to $40. I'm already happy with my $20 monthly prepaid plan.
Seems like a good phone but I'm ok. I'm content with my Z Flip 3 and Razr 5G. I want to keep my monthly bills as inexpensive as possible. An extra $20 x 36 still equates to $720 or $240 extra per year. I don't necessarily need a third foldable flip phone.

It's so pathetic to brag about selling out when you only sold 10,000 units in a country of 1.3 billion people.

Anonymous, 05 Jun 2023So 10.000 of the phones sold in a country where population ... moreMotorola is a very small brand in China so of course they won't have a high volume of stock. They wouldn't be expecting huge sales volumes

So 10.000 of the phones sold in a country where population is 1.4 billion people and sold out in a day. So it took time to sell out if it took a day for it.
Usually these limited number get sold out in minutes as the retail shops buy like 100 phones at once or even 1000 of them so there be who is fastest gets it.

This Razr is definitely an interesting phone. Having the phone almost fully functional while closed is key. We’ll see what Samsung bring for the Flip 5

Sure, it's sold out...but to whom? For sure not 100% are end-user buyers. They always left that info out while there's scalpers and resellers that buy the product in bulk.

old strategy, they only make like 5000-15000 devices available for first few sales to make it to news that it "sold out" then slowly make the phone easily available. many other companies in different industries still do this too

that is nice, thanks to Lenovo for keeping Motorola alive. They are now like a Sony Ericsson combination.
