My comments:
1. Recycling is not always ideal, sometimes its even worse than dumping. Recycling consumes precious energy. Still lower CO2 emission is appreciable.
2. India is a source of cheap labour and tax advantages on local production. I hope this reflects in final pricing.
3. Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is sufficiently fast and they better use it well to get a good deal to us.

Anonymous, 05 Jun 2023"it doubles the recharge cycles from industry standart... moreno catch they modified the chemical composition of a battery and added special controllers to check its state, read the Oppo Guangdong patents.
"Otherwise every phone company would hav already done this" - not true. most companies are after biggest profits, they want their products to become obsolete asap to sell more.
that is why Apple have yet to make an iPhone with 5000 mAh battery. the smaller the battery, the more often you have to charge it -> the more often you have to charge it, the faster it dies/exhaust its 800 recharge cycles. the faster it dies, the sooner you buy a new iPhone.

it is about chips controlling battery state and the chemical composition of a battery itself.

Anonymous, 05 Jun 2023"it doubles the recharge cycles from industry standart... moreYou're completely wrong. Lithium batteries are undergoing constant research, development, improvement and refinement, over more than 30 years now.
Recently promising breakthroughs include the idea of switching out the common PVDF binder on the anode for a 'BP' copolymer. Research published on this topic shows enormous improvements to battery life span, significantly more than double. On top of that commonly mentioned are ongoing work on lithium sulphur batteries, copper foam tech, and a host of other interesting research moving into the more untested/unrefined ideas that are much further from market.
Either way - it's totally feasible to me that a company could double the expected charge cycles before 70% health drop based on current proven research and concepts. Just look at how much charge speeds have improved in the last 5 years - nobody would believe phones are charging at 120W going from 0% to 100% in less than 10 minutes for a 4000+ mAh battery is insane.

Something like a lithium battery can't be just doubled in cycles that easy. There has to be some catch to it or terms conditions etc. Otherwise every phone company would hav already done this

For people questioning the quality of made in India, Nokia had manufactured large quantities of lot many models with good quality in their own plant in this region.

While it's great that this phone won't be made in China, it's still not going to be competitive in the US when you consider that it'll only be a 1080p screen (Google and Samsung are 1440p in this size range), using an older processor without AV1 support, and it will almost certainly lack MMwave 5G. And that's saying nothing about the lack of any carrier deals (although T-Mobile might take them on, I'd bet that AT&T won't allow the phone at all).
