Android 14 Beta 3 is out, Pixel 7a joins the fun

The next version of the OS is now at the stage where it's reached "platform stability".

Android already has everything anyone would dream of in iOS.

They are just doing little improvements here and there now. Imporovements that will likely take iOS a decade or so to implement, just like the widgets, meaningful notifications, always on, etc.

The main problem I expect android to tackle now is faster updates.

They need to find a way to take over updates from manufacturers so that they can deliver faster updates.

Give people option to either update their phone from Google sources or oem sources.

If you choose google source, you get faster and clean update.
If you chose manufacturer- you can wait forever for their heavily skinned android that may never come.

Your choice.

Does anyone know why the pixel 5 doesn't have the clock customization?

Mills, 08 Jun 2023Not long before forks like Amazons FireOS 9 and Samungs One... moreAndroid L is no longer in development. Android 12 was first and last. Android itself largely abandoned. Just little touches here or there, but Google no longer developing it. So no desktop, no window manager API, no driver subsystem etc etc

Wow text scaling! Stop the presses! Time to preorder the Pixel phone so I can get access to that first and brag to all my friends how I can scale fonts 200%

Not long before forks like Amazons FireOS 9 and Samungs OneUI 6 joins for Android 13/14.

The real problem is how will Google compete with iOS and iPadOS 17. Android xL doesn't seem popular at the moment
