Weekly poll results: both Moto Razr 40 models have fans, but the Ultra is much more popular

11 June 2023
The vanilla model is let down by its chipset. The Razr 40 Ultra/Razr+ isn't perfect either, but it looks like a highly competitive package.

I believe Motorola missed the spot when it went for the Snapdragon 8 GEN 1! I was almost sold on the device until i noticed the chip! especially for a phone with limited battery like moto razr. i had a major issue with that chip on my S22 with all the heat and battery problems.

Livius, 11 Jun 2023The 40 Ultra looks very good in magenta red. I'll wait... morethe red color is indeed looking great, I like all the colors actually but yeah the red looks fantastic. Reminds of the LG V30 red magenta color that also looked super cool

              GSMArena Battery Tests

Motorola Razr 40 Ultra (AKA Razr+)
              Web browsing: 12:07h
              Video playback: 15:03h

              Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4

              Web browsing: 19:02h
              Video playback: 23:00h

All three have the same Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 but the X Flip has 4400 mAh.

              Phone Arena

Motorola Razr 40 Ultra (AKA Razr+)
              Web browsing: 10:33h
              Video streaming: 12:39h
              3D gaming: 4:38h

              Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4
              Web browsing: 11:40h
              Video playback: 9:45h
              3D gaming: 5:08h

What I found surprising was Z Flip 3's scores from Phone Arena. Only got 7h for video streaming but was only 20 minutes worse than the Razr+ for web browsing and 3-hours better for 3D gaming.

                yloeb, 11 Jun 2023did i read right? the ultra has a 1/2.55" main sensor?Yes, while razr 40 uses 1/1.7" and razr 2022 has 1/1.56"

I could get the Razr+ for $5 monthly for the next 36 months but I've been disappointed with the battery life scores from GSMArena and Phone Arena. It's lower than the Flip4's. But other than that, it's pretty much better than the Flip4 in most cases. Looks better than the upcoming Flip5. Prefer the rounded sides.

I'll get whatever will be the next Razr once it has a meaningful leap in battery life. I've been worn out by all phones altogether. There will always be a better one year after year. People are seduced by newness over maintenance. You really don't need to upgrade a phone every 1 to 3 years. Can keep them for 5 to 6.

The 40 Ultra looks very good in magenta red. I'll wait a bit more for time to pass, see what Samsung comes out with and one of them is going to be my first foldable phone.

These pools are super useless. Variant with stronger specs will always win.

And the battery should’ve been a bit bigger because of it’s poor endurance rating.

Why do you expect them to price it lower for the same specs

Quite obviously it's the 40 Ultra. 40's chipset throttles a lot, which affects it's battery life.

$1000 is too much for the specs Lenovorola gives you. They’re betting it all on their new, large cover display.
