The earbuds should be launching soon.

Jack is dead, 15 Jun 2023..Lack of Jack =/= cannot use wired headphones / earphones.... more"That saved space, brings more battery capacity, more waterproofing and etc"

Sony proves this false by providing waterproofing, a similar or identical battery capacity, and a headphone jack.

Look at the vivo X5Max, it's a very thin phone and still has a headphone jack. The "wasted space" of a headphone jack is not the reason companies took them out. It's to gain more money off clueless consumers like yourself.

Why should you get an external adapter/component for something that basic phones have for your flagship? LG's DAC was amazing and that was inside the phone.

      kai, 15 Jun 2023My wf-xm4 battery life dropped from 8 hours to 2 hours just... moreIt was a firmware problem where the batteries heated up resulting in reduced capacity. My right bud was lasting less than an hour. Contact Sony via chat support and they will replace your XM4 even if out of warranty. I just got mine from Sony yesterday.

          Stupo, 15 Jun 2023Agreed. This whole headphone jack debate is jacksh!t. If yo... moreI use both. Wired with laptops but wireless with phones. Very easy that way. When you use laptop you don't move but your phone is always with you so wireless is better. I noticed that wired has loader volume and that's all. Everything is the same. Bass can be similar and also sound quality.

            Left bud dies in about 30 min and right in 40

              TBH, that feature should remain off no matter what.
              DSEE pretty much destroys EQ, sound quality and any remaining semblance of soundstage.

                kai, 15 Jun 2023My wf-xm4 battery life dropped from 8 hours to 2 hours just... moreI can't exactly say what's wrong. I highly doubt firmware because Sony doesn't exactly need to slow down old stuff like Apple did. But those are grounds for warranty-induced replacement, imo. See if you can complain to your retailer and get a new unit because yours are defective if the battery goes down so fast.

It's not gradually dropped, it just dropped right after the firmware update. So it's actually firmware problem, not battery. And Sony didn't resolve it by giving us a new firmware update. Sony just doesn't care as their newer batch wf-xm4 already solved the issue. Sony doesn't want to accept they did this by firmware, otherwise Sony could let older batch with battery issue to roll-back to old firmware that can immediately resolve the problem. We don't want any new features, we want battery life back to 8 hours!!

                        [deleted post]That's literally impossible. Yes, the Samsung Note 7's battery stored enough energy to cause serious harm to humans. But if we divide that by how big the battery is inside a true wireless earbud, the energy potential inside a tws is more than 40 times less. On average, the battery capacity for a tws is about 75 mAh. The equivalent is probably a fraction of a firecracker and in any case, the battery is sealed away from the driver cavity.

And the software Sony Connect unable to correctly detect batteries' remaining percentage since then as well, the number keeps changing each time I put in and take out the earbud in the charging box as this is the method Sony said will trigger correct info from the charging box's remaining battery. I've been waiting for a year now, no firmware update to resolve this serious issue. 2 hours battery life? Can't even finish watching a movie with this earbuds! I gave up Sony.

                            Sony Semicon to name new category exmor T as LYTxxx instead of IMXxxx.

                            LYT500 = 1/2.93" 50MP
                            LYT600 = 1/1.953" 50MP
                            LYT700 = 1/1.56 50MP
                            LYT800 (imx888) = 1/1.43" 53MP
                            LYT900 = 1/.098" 50MP

                            According to SS, LYT500 can outperform imx586.

                                  I love this debates about 3.5 jack so much!

                                  On one hand: we need jack for convenience, no charging, no latency, sound quality, huge variety of headphones, compatibility, voice calls quality, and wireless could be used as well

                                  On the other hand: "Just buy yourself out": Just buy an adapter or a splitter, just buy additional battery/mag charger/ with charger for headphones, just buy better headphones for better quality, JUST BUY SEPARATE AUDIOPLAYER.

                                  Well, for me it is easy to pick a side.
