            Ppl are waking up to fact none of their phones below $900 is worth buying.

                      Helio G88 again?? Why not Snapdragon 680??
                      The hell with the screen keeps getting bigger and bigger even for the cheapest Redmi phone??

                        But seriously though, why not a Unisoc T616 or a MediaTek Dimensity or maybe a Snapdragon??? Anything that uses UFS storage in 2023, come on.

These low end ... moreSometimes I still wonder whether ODM can install a custom-OS according to what has been given by OEM (like Xiaomi giving MIUI firmware to ODM and asking ODM to install it on phones ordered by Xiaomi) or smth?
                          Most ODM-based phones that I know mostly runs on Stock Android without any added features from OEMs and in most cases most likely won't get any software updates.

                              An upgrade over the Redmi 11 Prime for screen size and ultrawide camera, but a downgrade for the chipset. The G99 is still more powerful than the G88.

These low end phones often times are churned out by ODMs, and OEMs simple shop around looking for the lowest cost and slap their brand in it. That’s why we are seeing similar specs and designs across brands on many of their lower end models.

                                  and no gyro so there will be no video stabilization. front camera in redmi 10 5g looks like vga resolution. this makes me thinking why waterdrop cameras look so poor.

                                      you have to suffer, 16 Jun 2023let alone budget phones neither. they usually come with emmcTbh MediaTek is somewhat blameable because of the fact that all their Helio chipsets outside of the G9x series don't support UFS at all.
                                      But it's not like the company can't be blamed either. For some reason Samsung A03 and Infinix Hot 12 Play NFC still comes with eMMC even though the chipset supports UFS. I won't talk about something more expensive like the Samsung A23 4G.
