RIM reveals BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220, not really striking

I have had two of these BB8220 pink flip pearl phones. Both lost bluetooth functionality when a software upgrade was required. The first time, Rogers sent me another of the same for no fee. The second time, Rogers asked that I changed phones for more money? I declined on the basis that I do not think I should pay additional money when it was the company itself that required a software upgrade which reduced my phone's functionality. Who is responsible? Rogers or Blackberry?

i have this phone i love it, its great, compact, works well, has a2dp, you can download flycast on it, its cool looking, its functional, suretype is fine once you get used to it, it does all the great things a bb should, you will not be let down if you are looknig for a one of a kind bb. two thumbs up.

blackberry should have gone with SLIDER rather than flip. i beleive sliders r more popular in the full keypad market.

theres a few things i want to clear up here:-
the javelin is an update to the curve however does not boast the looks or capabilitys of teh bold
as far as we can tell the thunder will be exclusive to vodafone in the uk
and with regards to the 8220 it is certainly doing what rim intended its is targeting non rim users that want a PHONE-LIKE handset!

Well it would appeal to teenagers, who text message constantly, although you would have to get use to the suretype keyboard. It is a good attempt to broaden rims audience. I heard it would cost $50 on a tmobile contract,and this beats any other flip phone out there (for the price)!

i think the problem with blackberry is even though they are great phones they still havent touched the base of consumer oriented devices. They are still to oriented to business this is a good start though and that blackberry thunder.

come on, read with sense.. 17.5 is the thickness.. from what your comment, i guess no one would buy the HTC Touch Pro as it is 102 X 51 X 18.1.. wow even bigger than this BB, and BB Bold is 114 x 66 x 14.. just how much thicker than BB Bold.. do bring out your calculator to count..

I've used one a couple of months ago. You guys are not going to believe this, hate it as you want, I have some colleagues who just love FLIP PHONES. Regardless of the way it looks.
I had a play with it, and it was decent enough. But after the BOLD, it's surprising for the BlackBerry to release a phone, even if it's a flip one, that is not on the same caliber as the bold.
The Javelin that I've been playing around looks way better! Now if only the software on the Javelin wasn't OS 4.7 Alpha, things would be better. LoL
Still, BlackBerry devices are the BEST messaging tool out there. Real time connections to Yahoo!, Windows Live (MSN), Google Talk, AIM and ICQ? No other manufacturer comes close to the speed of this device as a messaging tool.

I love how this still has so few comments.
The days of blackberry have come and gone.
So many other phones can do what they were known for and more that they had better expand their features or get bought out.

At first glance this phone appeals to folks who like and prefer flip phones...me being one of them. However, the angle of the flip seems awkward because it appears to be at a 90 degree angle when the flip is opened. Could someone who has handled this phone confirm the degree of the angle when the phone is flipped open.

i liked design/build/colour combination ..but launching price should not be more then $350 ..otherwise its waste of money ..looking at the spec its just 2mp n ordinary set ..not having touch screen

I think this phone was a good idea its gives people more of a choice between the blackberries that they use so insted of them all being candybar style phones they now have a seperate option which to me was a great idea... this phone will surely sell

I always knew gsmarena was the 1st one to post new celphone models/news (at least the important ones) but this blackberry, like others phones, I saw more than 30 hours ago in others sites (and some not very good blogs) :J Blckberry only made Pearl Flip because they believe flip phones are the preference of the USA consumer.
