Bigger screen + smaller dimension does not mean its any better.

Because that eats into bezel size, and could lead to more drops / misclicks and hand cramp because of how you bend your thumbs to reach the corners.

Thats one major reason for the large bezels on tablets, imagine a bezel-less tablet.. how the hell you going to hold it without dropping and misclicking all over it?.. You would need 3 hands.

But sure there are people who can comfortably hold 5 inch.. but there should be options for 4.2 - 4 inchers!! Where are the so call "options" for androids they pride so much about??

I've not faced any problem while carrying my 5 inch Android...! Its pretty cool. But surely it'll never be my Primary phone..my primary phone is Nokia c5-00. Most compact phone I've ever seen. I'll probably buy a Mega 5.8 but surely ill never ditch my C5-00.

        Dear users,
GSMArena ain't saying there should not be a 5.0 inch phone with high-end specs.

It says there should ALSO be a 4.0 to 4.3 inch phone with high-end specs.

So even if u prefer a large screen i guess it should'nt be too difficult to sign the petition.

Dear Phone Maker, please do not make more 5 inch size smartphone. I understand that perhaps certain market demand bigger phone but think about us, people who would like a compact, mid-size and powerful phones. We don't really need a fantastic equal or more than 5 inch size phone. Personally, 4-inch screen size phone is perfect. Perhaps phone marker can do a really intensive market survey on the size of mobile phone among the users. Taken into account not just size of screen but overall size of the phone.
We don't need a superman phone, we understand technology is always changing. Research and Development is always changing so let's try to at least update all android phones to its latest android version. I know it demand time and effort and money involved, but well, you keep us happy.
Last or not least, i would suggest phone makers to go and find some really useful mobile forum to read. These forum are very useful in gathering the thoughts of mobile user, regardless of mobile platform, but in this case, android user.
I understand phone maker do intensive market research, but at least give us some response on your thoughts on our comments and suggestions.
          Thank you.

The Note series are also compact smartphones. They're just a little bigger. But that's the whole point of the Note series, they must be big enough to become all in one devices but still in compact dimensions.

The petition that I'm intrested in is that for Samsung to buy the 41MP pureview technology from Nokia and put it in the new Note, so that the likes of me won't bother to buy both the Note and the 808. Just buy the tech from Nokia and let Nokia rest in peace.

To the many readers who want a smaller screen but wouldn't sign because they disagree with the proposed specification (in the first petition request), you guys are missing the point.
The point is to make it known to the manufacturers that there is a market with smaller phone without compromise to performance.
Every brand has their preference. Samsung will likely always gives expandable storage and removable battery. HTC will try another aluminum unibody at the expense of the what Samsung gives.
But when top end small screen phone started coming out, only then can we start to choose our own preference.
              Here is another matter stopping the manufacturers though;
Samsung for example, would rather brag that it sold 50million S3 than to report 30million of S3 and 20million of S3 mini sold (even assuming both have the same internal and price).

I just love the largest phone that can fit my pants' back pocket.

Hope it can run the full Win 8 or 9 OS in future.

I own Oppo Find 5. but still my ideal phone would be Xperia Ray with qHD 960x540, bravia engine 2, exmor RS 8mp, 2100mah or higher, 3.3 LED backlit LCD with gorilla glass 2, snapdragon 400 dualcore. that would be the sexiest phone yet powerful phone i wanted.

Honestly, it's not about making the screen that small, its about the bezel. A Galaxy s4-style bezel phone of 4.5" screen would make the phone 125.5x63.6mm small, which is about the size of '4.2" phones'. THAT is what we need to petition for instead. A 4.5" and a 5" version of the same phone for different needs, perfect!

I was so happy to see this petition. I was one of those people who doesn't like the trend of those 5" smartphone. I think too that it is unfair that only big smartphone gets high end performance.
