Apple raises iCloud+ pricing in the UK, parts of Europe, Asia and the Americas

27 June 2023
Euro prices as well as those in the US, Australia and India remain the same (for now). Some non-euro European prices went up, however.

hmm, 27 Jun 2023I dont see apple lose customers with that. There customers ... moreI’d pay $10 more …$20 apple fan money no object

Don't really see the need to report on this tbh? The increases are insignificant. My 200GB went from 10.99 AED to 11.99 AED (1 AED = 0.27 USD)...

Apple's really greedy for money. They once charged 949 SGD for a crappy iPhone SE 256GB version!

.fy, 28 Jun 2023Yeah they shouldn't buy the cheap fake one from Alibab... moreMany Digital Cameras can record 60fps and even 120fps onto SD cards. So I think it's just the phone placing artificial limit to force you to waste the internal storage.

First of all, I myself never use cloud storage because I don't believe in ethics of clouds storage technology. Don't blame me.
Second point is that you didn't understand my comment. OEM first created the problem by removing option of sd card and then they provided answer to that problem with cloud storage. (But with service charge)
Its the new technology shills who are responsible for such evil practices done by oem.

Nice thing is, you don't really need onboard storage at all. :)

Because it is maintenance fee (they're maintaining your data and taking service charge from you). First companies created need for cloud storage by not giving expandable storage option and then they are charging you for the cloud service.
The problem is people have created this demon, they have to pay for it. No escape.

L973, 27 Jun 2023Turkey increased twofold wtf...Turkey is the new Brazil, Brazil is the new Argentina, and Argentina is having its worst currency crisis/inflation since the 80s. In Turkey in particular, the central bank CUT interest rates in advance of the recent elections to boost Erdoğan's chances, despite massive inflation. (Everyone with even the slimmest knowledge of economics knows that's the opposite of what you're supposed to do.)

ReaLogic, 28 Jun 2023I guess they mean that SD card can sometimes get corrupted ... moreYeah they shouldn't buy the cheap fake one from Alibaba at first :P I mean, even the most expensive SD card with fastest write/read spead (U3/Class 10) is still cheaper than upgrade your phone internal storage (with the same capacity ofc). I'm pretty sure your files won't get corrupted if you buy the good one. 👍 And yes I can confirm there's no way to automatically store your pics/videos on your SD card on my Samsung. My logic about this is because, you know, SD card's write speed is still slower than UFS storage. And let's just say this can be bad if you record at 60 fps at your SD card but your SD card's write speed isn't fast enough to do such things.

Look I don’t like price hikes as a rule, but they do happen and not just where Apple is concerned. My point was that I hardly see this sending large swaths of Apple’s customer base running for the hills.

.fy, 28 Jun 2023This. I still don't understand why I should pay monthl... moreI guess they mean that SD card can sometimes get corrupted (limited writes and all that). Also slow SD cards can cause broken/laggy videos. I see people trying to save money on SD cards ending up getting fake cards or slow cards. I'll say get at least a U1 card. Best to go with a U3 or faster if recording at FHD. I thinks Samsung phones automatically records to internal memory for larger resolutions, or burst photos, even if SD available.

All flagship phones since 2020 have DEVOLVED. It's depressing how the smartphone industry is evolving but backwards.
