Instead of launching S21FE with shitty overheating SD888 they should launch S22 FE with 8+Gen1 which will give a good competition to the upcoming Nothing Phone 2. Why try to resale which is not good enough to sell. It's a 2 year old phone with 2 yr old processor. Doesn't make any sense at all.

So, both of the 6.1 display models I have should be best in battery life because they have less space to power) in terms of battery longevity, regardless of whether in standby on a desk, via heavy gaming, web surfing or any type of mixture their of. So, if what you say is true, than I hope that Qualcomm starts making their 7 series their true best jack of all trades SoC lineup. 8 series isn't really known for good battery life, except those using 10 nm node fin fit process. Silly to make the sammy one overclocked, let alone hype / promote this power hungry, extra depleting battery life as a wanna be bragging rights better than other snap 8 gen 2 chipsets.
Someone copy the Google pixel 1 snapdragon 820 exclusive with its downclocked exclusive version, and immediately.

SD 888 isn't particularly efficient and has a tendency to heat up (not as much as Exynos). Would have preferred a Dimensity 8200 or at least a Dimensity 8100 instead!

I had to choose between S20 FE 5G (SD865) and S21 FE (SD888) or S22 (Exynos 2200) after my phone's display broke. I bought the S20 FE 5G 256GB/8GB RAM + 1TB SanDisk Extreme Pro SD card. No overheating, great battery life, plenty of space.
I really miss the 3.5mm jack and WQHD display.

And S21 FE has longer support, for a plastic back and no adaptive refresh rate with VERY SLIGHTLY worse battery life.

I'll tell everyone exactly what has happened.
Samsung was awarded SD888 and SD 8 Gen 1 production, both are made in Samsung Foundry. Problem is that both these chips have overheating and consequently performance throttling issues. Now that 888 is an older chip with no buyers, samsung has to somehow sell a big 888 inventory. Note that 888+ prod was awarded to TSMC because of sammy foundry issues. Some manager genius came up with the idea that "let's package this in the FE tag" but S23FE already is in production while S22 FE doesn't exist. So they defaulted to "S21 FE 5G 2023".
Hope they have resolved the issues with proper thermal cooling solution and software, most likely not but let's give them a chance.

Heating issue was serious in sd888, they could use better chipset from mediatek like d8200 or d9000.
I've tested 11t pro and s21 fe and 11 ultra.
Most of the people that bought devices with sd888 in my shop they switched to newer devices with better thermal.
