Just because 2 out of 5 smartphones they sell have a good battery life doesn't mean they are dominating (this goes to fanboy author of the article too).
Why none of you are talking about the subpar standby times and mediocre overall score of 14 and 14 pro, not to mention SE model with it's whole 62 hours.
Plenty of android phones that run circles around these, just look at the recent Sony 10 V.

1... moreDon't forget about the sub-pixel count. Huge difference between RGBW, RGB, and PenTile Matrix. With that said, there's a difference in the efficiency of each sub-pixel between technology types and even generations.
So your comparison is definitely not apples to oranges.

14 pro max : 3,606 MP
G3 : 3,686 MP
Old G3 has 80.000 pixels more to push.
Now let's see how many those 20:9 QHD have.
4,561 MP ... That is 26,48% more.
Also higher resolution panels have higher bitrates , more power used.
Higher colour depth increase power used.
In english: Iphone would need to have battery about 26,5% larger if using QHD panel with same specs. I am not even counting extra stress on gpu to render stuff above FHD.
Guess why budget phones can reach 18-20h SoT .. or more

iPhones always have the same battery life.
Everytime they release a thirsty chip, they increase the capacity to level it out. Everytime the chip gets really efficient, they reduce the capacity. And when they get bored they play around with the thickness.
What is likely to come?
New chips are tuned heavily for performance, despite the full-node jump to TSMC-3nm, and require the extra battery. So battery life should normalise, maybe a bit more, maybe a bit less. Extra thickness potentially for cooling purposes (vapour chamber). Expect A LOT of performance gain, perhaps slightly above the Apple M1 in multithreaded speed. With all that performance lift comes the new platform, so it will likely enjoy a much longer software support period than the previous model (iPhone 14/A16 chip). It cycles every generation.

Amount of power used is way lower.
With QHD 10 bit, battery would be easily 20% weaker

Over $2000 in some markets, still no QHD/4K screen, no 480Hz flickering ( at least not below 200 like many chinese flagships that claim to have 1920 or 2160).
