Why would I use Threads knowing the parent company's policies and opinion bias (Meta via Facebook) which may get my account shadowbanned or outright banned? No thanks,

Artem S. Tashkinov, 10 Jul 2023The fact that 100 million Instagram users clicked Threads j... moreExactly! Twitter users aren’t like Instagram users and vice versa. They’re more into photos and videos and not thoughtful, text-based discussions. Also, you’re more likely to be subjected to constant censorship on a Meta platform like Threads than on Musk’s Twitter.

All the best if that's what you stand for, I however do not.

What argument is there to challenge? There's literally almost zero substance to this except for pushing the Elon vs Zuckerberg for clicks.
Also, I can't be arsed to create fake account. In fact, I haven't logged in for years cause I can't remember my email I used. That's the good thing about this, you don't have to make an account to post. But pot, meet kettle with the "anonymous" reply. You're so cool, man.
But let's get to the actual point of this. I'm sorry that I want better from the blogs I actually like and read regularly. Should I support mediocrity? Should I laud them for downhill quality? Is it really that hard to ask people who write for a living to do their job and proofread what they write before publishing?
Jumping from "you" to "their" in the same sentence isn't that hard to correct. I'd argue it's harder to make that mistake even. And when this happens in the first paragraph, well, even people skimming the blog posts will see it.

What people don't get is the fact that Meta created this app to keep more people into their control and to use those people for advertising.
Zuck realized twitter is going downhill, so he decided to grab some former twitter employees to create another data mining app
I am not supporting elon (except for the rate limit thing, twitter users can finally go outside, otherwise they have to pay for the funny blue bird app, which is a worse financial decision than Nitro Classic) his actions were really.... stupid to say the least.
You guys do know that this is INSTAGRAM Threads, it's not just threads, it's INSTAGRAM Thread. instagram is owned by, you guessed it, meta. and Meta is notorious for grabbing user data and selling it (I know why they're doing it, and it's to keep the apps free).
This is a lose lose situation, if Elon wins, he can do whatever he wants and will ruin twitter before he gets replaced. if Zuck wins, the internet will be more controlled, and both scenarios have one thing in common, our privacy will be at risk.
my solution is to use private, open source social media applications. Stop using twitter or threads, these apps will suck you, more importantly your data, into their servers.

Anonymous, 11 Jul 2023Awww… you actually believe the alternative (Twitter) doesn’... moreAt least he hasn't been CAUGHT selling user data //secretively// to Cambridge Analytica. And you seem wise enough to know what CA does with the data.
And using the 'he too censors' argument means you are living under a rock.
Do you have any idea who is censoring and who is not censoring what.
Who is NOT censoring hate speech that is leading to deaths of innocents.
Who IS censoring free speech claiming fundamental rights and/or is critical of political leaders and corporations.
And above all why are they targeting Twitter and Musk? If it was about innovation and just creating a new platform, why is it strikingly similar to Twitter? A copycat!!
If Twitter was like them, they would've loved it.

If Meta says that instagram users can use the existing credentials on the new platform, then it means that it might just be a matter of 'click' to check out what it's about.
It's utterly wrongful to claim such people as 'users'.
There's a whole lot of difference between the two.

Signups are good, but don't mean anything honestly. It's about USING the app. 99% of the people I know that have signed up for Threads fiddled around with it for 10 minutes and never reopened it again.
