What is known and has been known for a long time I have copied here
"Optical Zoom: Optical zoom is generally considered to be the best since it is lossless. But, Optical Zo7⁹om on phones is not at all the same as optical zoom on DSLR cameras.

Optical zoom on phones is actually multi-camera zoom. For real optical zoom, the lens assembly needs to move back and forth to change the field of view. Our phones, however, switch to a second, different focal length camera to get an optically zoomed image.

This means, if your phone has 5X zoom, you will get optical or lossless zoom only at 5X. All other zooms say, 3x, 3.5x, and 4.5x, will still be merely digital zoom"

Remember this is a cellphone like most cellphones have additional features including camera, so when you see say a tourist taking shots using a real camera...

      Was interested until the 3x periscope letdown. What’s the point at that low of a zoom. Should be 5x-10x. Lazy effort.

            Oneplus 11 was great phone for the price but i suspect 12 will be more expensive and one reason why i was not buying the 11 was it was lacking type c hdmi alt mode which 10 pro had.

            Yeah that is niche feature but most other flagship phones has it.
