Lenovo Tab P12 announced with 12.7” LCD and MediaTek 7050

27 July 2023
The latest P-series tablet from Lenovo features a 12.7-inch LTPS LCD and a massive 10,200 mAh battery.

There is a p12 12.7 inches snapdragon 870 version better than mediatek...is there a possibility to unlock the bootloader and install lineage os ,pixel experience etc.. Will lenovo release the device kernel source .. The price of p12 12.7 is tempting against the higher price Mi pad pro 5. 12.4 inches both use the same snapdragon 870..

And what kind of rhetoric are you spouting? Why do we need to know what security updates change? We know there are cyber criminals out there and security updates keep them at bay. Do people have the technical knowledge to understand a car's anti-theft system? Or even locks on a car door? We know they help deter thieves. Is it 100% fool proof? Of course not. We still engage our locks and security systems anyway. Mitigating even some crime is better than none at all.

Can you guarantee not having security updates won't increase instances of malware attacks or hacking? Not everyone posts their information in public (I can't believe I have to point this out to you), and who knows what exploits or backdoors to our banking information hackers could find. Just because there are reckless people out there doesn't mean the rest don't deserve protection.

The huge bezels are a waste of valuable display surface area; WHY do that?! Take it to the edge, even big screen TV's are more efficient than these current range of tablets.

And yes, software updates are not totally irrelevant.

What I fail to understand is people's infatuation with 'security' updates. It's not fair to totally rate a device down just on the 'security' updates premise.

What exactly are people trying to 'secure' with the 'security updates' when they happily post their personal info and detailed surveys of their daily lives online on social media on a regular basis.
And how many actually have the technical knowhow to check what changes the security updates actually made to their devices.
And is it a guaranteed assurance that no 'harm' will come to the device as long as it is getting the 'security' updates?

I bought new Lenovo tablet released this year and it is lacking in even security updates(and it is on android 12 still).

You can bet i am not going to buy another Lenovo tablet anymore!

Spanky, 27 Jul 2023This is quite expensive, for a 60 Hz LCD. True, it is large... moreThat's right. At this price point 60 Hz looks so out of place.
Personally I would not mind 60 Hz if there's concomitant decrease in price.
But the screen resolution is great.
The higher cost may be attributed to in the box Lenovo Pen (ideally that should be optional)

Samsung has now left a huge gap open in the tablet market with its base s9 series model coming with 8 gen2 and Amoled. A WHOLE LOT of ground for other companies to play around.
                      Go Go Go!!

I would like tablets with good quality LCD with Dolby/ IMAX certification, good ppi, good colour gamut ( that includes 10 bit ), with not very heavy duty processor (to cut the cost).
Some tinkering may be done here and there to suit varied individual preferences.

Samsung's traditional 'package deal' system is so boring and out of sync with customer requirement now. If one wants one component to be good, they have to buy the package deal where everything is over the top costly. Otherwise they have to buy the 'mediocre package'.

This offering seems like ticking a lot of boxes right. Something other companies can emulate.
                      Bye bye Samsung.

This is quite expensive, for a 60 Hz LCD. True, it is large and of a high resolution, but the chip will be struggling a bit with it.
