Anonymous, 02 Aug 2023Yeah, I meant to say IP68. There is quite a big difference.... morehttps://thetechgain.com/do-usb-c-to-3-5-mm-adapters-reduce-sound-quality/#:~:text=Active%20USB%2DC%20to%203.5,%2Dquality%20ones%20won%27t.

Here’s Whether USB-C To 3.5 mm Adapters Reduce Sound Quality:
Active USB-C to 3.5 mm adapters convert digital audio to analog audio, and their sound quality depends on the DACs and headphone amplifiers inside them. So poor-quality active adapters can reduce audio quality, but high-quality ones won’t. On the other hand, passive USB-C to 3.5 mm adapters only route the analog audio from a USB-C port to a 3.5 mm jack and don’t affect the sound quality.

Do USB-C To 3.5 mm Adapters Reduce Sound Quality?
There are two types of USB-C to 3.5 mm adapters: active and passive, and the most common one is the active adapter, which is compatible with all USB-C devices.

Active USB-C adapters have DACs and headphone amplifiers inside them to convert the digital USB audio signal to the analog audio on the 3.5 mm jack. So their sound quality depends on their DACs and headphone amplifiers.

Can A Better USB-C To 3.5 mm Adapter Give You Better Sound Quality?
A better active USB-C adapter can give you better sound quality.

oha, 02 Aug 2023cant we use 3.5 earphones with "3.5mm to usb-c" c... moreYeah, I meant to say IP68. There is quite a big difference. IP64 would imply water resistance in like a shower. Whereas IP68 is water resistance fully submerged at beyond 30cm.

If you want to use a usbc-to-jack dongle, you will like need one that has a DAC (to convert the digital signal from the usbc port to the jack which takes an analogue signal.) Phones already have a DAC in them (because they need to for sending analogue signals to your speakers). But they are sometimes shitty in quality and other times not usable by the usbc port.

I just think it's a shame to remove such a nice feature which adds very very little cost to product design.

and plus wireless products are cosy.. Im not sure they are still good enough in terms of audio quality but removing those cables away is something. : /

PS: IP68 was the one on my mind while commenting.. Im not sure but theres a big gap between IP64 and IP68..

Have fun buying... moreno they didn't, it's done because it just looks cleaner, who cares if low end models due too, still different material and features is what matters, also nobody is forcing u to upgrade, u can stick by your phone 3 4 5 years, for those who are still on a s9 or what have u will upgrade to the s24 or those who just trade or sell their phone and one to keep up just because they can and money is no issue to them...so yeah pointless complaining, personally I'm glad chips keep getting better yearly whether i can keep up/afford them or not
