Weekly poll results: Galaxy Z Flip5 has little competition, Z Fold5 is quite pricey

06 August 2023
The Z Flip5 still needs to get good marks in reviews, of course. Its price is a concern as well, just not as much as with the Galaxy Z Fold5.

PeterThePanda, 06 Aug 2023Lol. Samsung is only popular because of their marketing and... moreNice joke.👍

a USD300 samsung phone has IP67 rating, decent new midrange chip, and 5 years software support.

Tell me any 300USD chinese phone that could give at least similar features?

Non-samsung user believe that samsung phone sold well only because of the brand, in facts, samsung gives more valuable phone compared to other competitor.

Also, many samsung phone user didn't show off the "samsung" logo, unlike iphone user. So, your argument is invalid.

PeterThePanda, 06 Aug 2023Well, well, well. Looks like the survey results reflect... moreWait, you think this poll represents most people? No tech website or tech tuber represents most people. They represent a small portion of people.

I can't edit the comment but let me correct something: it's not the majority of voters, that'd be above 50%. It's the relative majority which is different.

Bodygard, 06 Aug 2023Why you guys don't say it like it is? The Z Fold 5 pol... moreBoth are true. In the grand scheme of things yes, the conclusion is that most people dont want a foldable. But for people following the foldables specifically that is not an interesting conclusion cos we dont give a f about those peoples opinion anyways :D

However, those of us who are interested in foldables feel that while it's probably a mighty fine device, it's really expensive for what it is.

Why you guys don't say it like it is? The Z Fold 5 poll conclusion isn't that "people don't want it because the price is too high"! No. The majority of the people simply said "This is not for me". Now the reasons this is not for 37% of the voters are not limited to the price. It can be several. Jeez...

Well honestly both are overpriced comparing specs to what user gets and in both cases there are better options to pick from.
Litterary any competitor did a lot better job cheaper.
I really dont see the reason why to buy much more expensive samsung but lets everybody suit its self.

                  Z Fold5 more like Z DOA ld5

No company tried to make Foldables interesting to buy. Expensive with lower specs, reminds you of early foldable Ericsson & PDAs!

[deleted post]Lol. Samsung is only popular because of their marketing and company size.

Remove that and even the cheapest Android OEM would overtake them in terms of quality and value for money.

I had the Z Flip 4 for like 2 months. The crease remained distracting and annoying for use, it makes the phone look like it has a defective screen protector installed.

After a few weeks, the novelty factor of the folding display disappeared, and what remains is a phone with a weak battery life compared to the traditional candybar style phone.

Promptly traded it in when the S23 Ultra was released and will probably never return to any Samsung foldable until they minimize that hideous trench/crease.

Samsung's greedy minor iterations is what kill the demand for the Fold5, zero improvements in camera hardware & battery size, minor improvements if any on the screen fragility, the screen protector still peels off, need replacing after 5 generations is just not acceptable. S-pen is still not housed inside the fold.
At the very least they should give free screen protector replacement for 4 years, as no matter how careful you used them they will just peel off as its a defect of the product.
Family members had Fold 3 and 4 and they been replaced but next ne we will be charged even though its a product fault not ours!
Cant wait for the Honor Magic v2 to go global its hardware design, bigger battery, thinner and lighter makes the Fold5 a Dinosaur that should have been extinct.
If honor can nail the software it would kill the sales off Fold 5; about the only thing have advantage.
Samsung can only pray after sitting o their laurels for years from market leader to laggards lol.
