It will still lead to major orice increases for all the laptops regardless because people who are not malpracticing still have to face these restrictions. If anything, this will further increases black marketing.

        But because of political hippocracy it is written "Made in India".

        My concern is, under "Make in India" devices like TV, Mobile etc. are being assemled by doing what?
        1) Manufacturing from scratch?
        2) Or by importing parts from other nations?
        If the answer is no - 2 then it will always raise cost at the end because the actual manufacting hubs are in different parts of the world and the assembly is happening in different area and moving every components also attracts cost for each movement, thus it creates an overall inefficient process of making anything.

        For example, just assume today i ate chinese food in india.
        Question is, was that chinese food made in china or else in india?
        If the answer is yes it was made in india like inside the boundaries within india, then there are other questions like are those ingredients, euipments, employees etc. also collected within the boundaries in india or are they imported from other nation?
        The whole manufacturing process is both simple and complex process.
        Currently whatever is going on is probably partially good for experience basis.
        Otherwise it is also raising cost and inefficiency.

                        Good decision by Government to stop cheap chinese tablets and laptops.

                        India already saw success by implementing similar policy for tyres, toys and TVs.
                        Adamant michelin now had to think of setting up manufacturing unit after continental AG started manufacturing.
                        Now almost all TVs are assembled in india and soon even Panels are going to get manufactured.

Do they still think it's the 1980s?Well the thing is govt thinks companies will bend to demand because who'd want to miss out on such a huge market. Also despite it harming the consumers for few years... It'll be beneficial in long term as companies will setup plants, partner with others & local brands migh pop up. Same thing happened in mobile sector & now see how its emerging as manufacturing hub.
