US variants of Galaxy S4 ship with locked bootloaders

All models sold through carriers in the US will include a locked bootloader on the Galaxy S4.

Samsung wanna keep the control of all the info you process on your phone. User data means good money and Samsung doesn't wanna lose this when you install a truly opensource firmware. That's why they lock bootloaders.

        That is a bad, bad move Samsung. Will stick to my S3 ... Sony, here I come!

Basically, the main purpose of locked BL is to prevent phone to be able to run unsigned kernel. Usually you can still gain root, modify system partition and f**k it up.

                Touch whiz is really great now.

                I think this will get a lot of support and i'm with them.Samsung is protecting it's users from hackers as well so stopping hackers from loading bootable mal-wares.

                Lets all praise Samsung and show support.
                Great the company is putting our security first with a lock out notice to hackers.

                  Samsung hasn't been supportive at all to the custom ROM community.
                  No sources for Galaxy S2 and Galaxy S3, superbrick...
                  Samsung is bad, don't but it, you'll regret it.
