oofio2461, 07 Aug 2023Ppl are forgetting all mediatek bootloaders cannot be unlockedHow? I've unlocked MTK phones but maybe it depends on the brand because Samsung phones can be unlocked as long as you aren't in the US you just trip Knox

So they have terrible software and now close their bl unlock method.. I hope they don't become the Taiwanese Huawei

This is a classical move that Chinese companies do, when they are planning to install more spyware to their phones. Huawei did it. It is very difficult to know what is installed in the phone if bootloader is locked.

that is where apple is eating them all, without competition in its segment.. the only one in android that comes close is samsung due to the duration of updates, and obviously google for owning the system... Which is not convenient for one manufacturer of android, which compresses a cell phone and lasts for years without spending money on another phone, this only looks like apple

Could it be that there are bugs in their software?

Vasra, 07 Aug 2023For me : Time to ditch Asus until they allow it again. I wa... moreSpot on. I have an Oneplus5 from 2017 still lying around as a backup and it's updated will pixel experience android 13, works like a charm fast and smooth, gcam, July security patch etc
If these brands at least gave us longer lasting update support, we wouldn't have to unlock and flash...but no, they want us to buy more and more of course...

Totally noob here in flashing rom knowledge. One question, can we replace bootloader with custom one?

What's the point to make kernel sources available and make unlocking the bootloader unavailable ??? Even the pixel devices allow this procedure without any delay !!!

This is totally inacceptable ... i dropped huawei devices from a while because of this policy !

Asus ... goodbye. Next please !

Alright, now increase the official updates to at least 3 or 4 years for major OS updates, then this isn't a too bad situation. Still wouldn't be ideal, but wouldn't be a deal breaker for me. Haven't rooted or replaced the rom of my phones since 2014, or something like that.

OK ... Then increase your Android Support from 1 to 3 Years warranty
                                    Otherwise
No one will buy your Phones

manufacturers increasingly desperate to sell hahaha

                                        Like it ever matters.
Updates or not many brands proven their phones can easily working without any issues even 5-10 years after updates.
