Samsung Galaxy A05 does Geekbench 6 with a Helio G85 chipset

08 August 2023
That's a massive upgrade over the P35 that was used on the Galaxy A04 last year.

you have to suffer, 08 Aug 2023this is a proper upgrade from a03. a04? just another iphone... moreIn terms of performance, it is a major upgrade to the A04, that phone had a Helio P35 that could barely match 2018 midrange chips.

It is also a slight upgrade to the A03 (ironically), whose Unisoc T606 was a slight bit slower than this chip.

Anonymous, 08 Aug 2023I am extremely happy the Galaxy A0 series is finally moving... morea03 has also big A75 cores.

i'm expecting F05 and M05 variants next week

Finally, the lowest end Samsung phone can play Mobile Legends with ultra settings (if the game provides support). G85 can also play several Gamecube games.

            OpposedScroll75, 08 Aug 2023For a $100-$150 phone, that's honestly not a bad chips... moreCorrection:

The 50MP camera on the back

For a $100-$150 phone, that's honestly not a bad chipset. It can score a decent 250K on Antutu v9 and +-400 single core / +- 1300 mutlicore on Geekbench. That is around the performance of the SD662.

It's a bit of a shame that other companies like Realme are still outdoing them. The Realme C53's Unisoc T612 has around the same performance as this chip, and that's not accounting the 108MP camera on the back, the 1080p IPS Panel, the much faster 33W charging that gets included in the box, the less bloated software etc.

Samsung still have catching up to do in the budget segment but they're getting there, albeit slowly.

This is where the Helio G80 series belong tbh 🤣

Anonymous, 08 Aug 2023finally low end phone with decent specks from samsung...but... moreThere's nothing decent here since eMMC is the bottleneck.

I am extremely happy the Galaxy A0 series is finally moving to a proper SoC with big A7 cores.

Geez, when will Samsung graduate from eMMC? Even Xiaomi is graduating from eMMC, with their Redmi 12 5G using UFS.
