Sony Madeleine The RX100, The best compact digital camera of all time.
The fitted a much larger sensor than others in a compact body.
So on one hand Sony is the company to do it.
On the other hand RX100 is quite expensive.
Probably made by a R&D department that will have nothing to do with mobile cameras.
And it has Carl Zeiss optics.
So there really is no reason to think that they can do with mobiles what they did with compact cameras. And if they did, expect a price that is for enthusiasts only.

AnonD-77852, 01 May 2013I'm waiting for Nikon and Canon to step up and get involved... moreWhy would Sony, Samsung, Apple etc... want brands like Nikon/Canon who are in direct competition with them to produce lenses?
Sony make fantastic lenses themselves, as to Samsung, Apple don't need it, Nokia have agreements in place. HTC are the only ones I can see doing that, but if HTC but a Nikon brand on thier product thier own brand would die off very quickly.

1/1.6" simply sounds too good to be true!
A sensor that big I haven't seen in small devices since the legendary FujiFilm F30/F31.
If Sony can achieve this without the phone getting really thick (like the mentioned Nokias are), it would be amazing.

Sony has a dislay problem with the latest flagship xperia z. Its display becomes dims after several minutes usage. Their video camera becomes dim upon recording

Another sensor that will be worse from what they provide for their competition?
And another phone with a display of such poor quality like in Xperia Z?
I really can't understant why is it so that Sony makes displays, Sony makes camera sensors and they provide their competition with better parts than they put into their OWN devices.

Ok, the sensor gets bigger but the RESULT counts.. Will it be just like another Xperia camera..? It's a shame considering Sony can make such a hilarious digital cameras (under Alpha brand SLT & NEX and Cybershot especially RX-100 and RX-1). Sony make the sensor for iPhone but the iPhone can result way better image than any Xperia.

uu, 01 May 2013Lol, u failed to mention
S4-lag issues but minimal, no i... moreSo what? You also failed to mention the the Samsung are using the same design over and over again in every low/mid/high end device since last year?
Nothing is perfect in this world, everything has its strength and weakness. In the end, it just the matter of choice/personal preference and which device suit/fulfill most of your preferences, like if you want a water resistance android flagship then XZ, if you want an android flagship with best audio output then HTC One, if you want a most powerful android flagship with several cool features then S4, that's all.
