I have a serious love-hate relationship with the Flips’ cover screen, lol.

Just a wild guess as I don't gave a tame one, Oppo decision is MORE presentational / coordination of product launces.
The N2 flip launched in December 2022 so less than a year ago.
Flips appear to launch around this time, so the N2 was early late, whatever not with the bunch.
Additionally the Oppos Flip are NOT released with the latest Dimensity on board
As only Geekbench 5 figures have been released so far. There is an improvement in the N3 figures over the N2 Dimensity 9200 versus Dimensity 9000.
The Geekbench 5 N3 Flip figures are better than Samsung Flip 4 (8 gen 1) but marginally behind Samsung Flip 5 (8 gen 2).
(I sound like I am camped out in the Apple Vineyard focusing on data, to reiterate Benchmarks do not a phone make)
The earlier than usual release PLUS the improvements suggest that this is to appeal to those set on a purchasing a Flip Oppo is here now.
All you have to do is wait until August to see all the major players releases.
I may BE much more wrong than right, flips are my desired format, I have not looked all the evidence o.k
