for people who never use phone with 2x in sensor zoom, the quality is huge. Most phone now do this, while oppo does first with oppo reno 10x zoom, on my find x2 pro the quality is great at 2-3x is , the in sensor zoom algorithm can even rival native 3x optical zoom. On galaxy s22-23u seriesthis mean 1-3x zoom will be almost same quality wise without any downgrade which is amazing.
Samsung should also use 3 and 4x lossless zoom crop from 200mp sensor and move the middle telephoto to 5x, this will bring a good quality zoom across short range zoom

Anonymous, 17 Aug 2023I've had 2x zoom on my S23U for monthsthe new mode crop from high res sensor, giving you almost 2x optical quality zoom like, while the stock 2x is cropped from binned shot, there's different in quality, though may not bring huge upgrade since we can easily use 3x for optical too, but the 2x will be better for sure since its a 12mp vs real 10mp optical sensor, and also the quality will be like 99% same like 1x shot

After the August update, the S23's camera improved not only in Zoom with AI but also the main camera. Now it is the best cell phone of 2023. Size weight battery life screen and now an outstanding camera.

Im not suprised people only think samsung update on time or improve things, this site has ignored the last 3 oppo updates including UI changes, camera updates with some setting changes in the camera app and fixes, ui fixes and general performance and battery updates but no info at all just samsung news.
Theyll tell you though if they have a problem with any company (except samsung) but neglect to update people on the actual great software support others get (i personally havent had an issue with an oppo phone but i know there was a few fixes that needed to happen which seem to have but nothing from GSM).

Other companies have had camera and UI updates and just as regularly. Stop spamming the samsung only news and only when samsung brings an update. The amount of camera update news only from samsung on this site. Other companies exsist guys.

I just installed august security update. to be honest, 2x has more detail than 1x crop by default. that is good news. however, I'm not sure if 2x was the same ot worse with July firmware. looks like installing camera assistant app only adds a 2x button the view finder, no quality difference with the app as far as I can see.

King of updates yet 17th August and as yet no update has rolled out. And why can't Samsung put the 2x crop into the stock camera rather than separate camera assistant?? It's like RAW app why does it have to be a separate app?? Hopeless
