Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra won't be heavier than the S23 Ultra despite the titanium frame

17 August 2023
Titanium is denser and tougher than aluminum so it would be interesting to know how Samsung achieved this.

Once are batteries removable and stacked, just using 1 part would make a phone significantly lighter.
And cheaper. Lol. [Edit: cheaper to produce]

Regardless, you can only machine something so thin, regardless of its strength. We'll see how they handle this.

I still think it's silly, as there are aluminum alloys that rival titanium's strength to weight ratio and are cheaper. If it's a space constraint issue, then steel would be better.

Anonymous, 18 Aug 2023since when is titanium lighter than aluminium? They might have been confused with iPhone Pro models that have a stainless steel frame and they are allegedly going to switch to titanium as well which is lighter than stainless steel.
But either way the will probably keep it the same or even lighter because titanium is stronger and you will need less metal to get the same results you got with aluminum.

233g is still unacceptably far too heavy! For me 190g is the absolute upper limit!

On that note, titanium is not scratch resistant.
