At some point , only samsung and google will be using isocell.
All other will stick with sony, while motorola with omnivision.
Instead of using useful tech, all samsung can do is to increase how many pixels can be read out together. 4, 9, 16, 25, 36, 49, 64, 81 and then 100.
Tsmc has better semicon tech.
Sony, LG, TCL, Philips and Panasonic make better tvs.
Sony makes better sensors.
Panasonic makes better home appliences (kitchen and laundry room)
LG makes better ACs.
Dell, Asus, HP make better laptops.

I wonder why they want to make phones with like 300 or 440 Megapixels, while you will most probably take 18.75 MP binned shots(with a 300 MP sensor), or a 27.5 MP(with a 440 MP sensor) anyway? Why not to make a 40 or 50 MP full size sensor so people could take 50 MP shots instead of this 440 MP nonsense? By the way taking a full size shot at 440 MP would take hundreds of MB's, and if the sensor is not big enough the quality would be of bad quality.

Surely it's easier to fit more pixels in a larger sensor. It surprises me that it took companies this long...🤔

For example Samsung GN2 was introduced in Feb 2021 according to Samsung website, but they would wait until Pixel 8 October 2023 to launch a GN2 based phone
So if Samsung launches GN6 in early 2024 you can expect Pixel to adopt in October 2026 with Pixel 10
I hope they shorten the gap between new sensor adoption or just switch to Sony sensors which are superior.

I guess i misunderstood then because i reread it now and it says that for 320MP. Still, who needs that much on a phone?
Thanks for correcting me btw.

If y'all are wondering why is it "too expensive for Samsung" to implement any one of these sensors for their flagship Galaxy S lineup, it's because the Samsung that makes phones is different from the Samsung that makes camera sensors, even though they are under the same "Samsung" umbrella.
Samsung Electronics makes the phones, and other electronics (as the name suggests), and Samsung LSI makes the camera sensors.
So as per this logic, to Samsung LSI, Samsung Electronics is just another customer to them. They'll quote the same prices that applies to other manufacturers, to Samsung Electronics as well...
Hope this clears the influx of "too expensive for themselves" comments.
Correct me if am wrong btw...
Also, the 440MP sensors wouldn't be used on smartphones, as clearly stated in the article. They'll be used in other areas where those megapixels do matter.

"However, just like the 1-inch sensor, this one end up being too expensive to manufacture for Samsung to consider it for its own smartphones."
Never heard Samsung say a sensor is too expensive for their flagships. Gsmarena is becoming a gossip magazine. Please act credible.

It's definitely not too expensive, they just don't want to put it because their insanely high profit margins would be slightly lessened. The S23 Ultra is not worth that £1200+ (depends on region) price tag, and I'll bet you that Samsung makes way more profit off of this device than their flagship phones of the price, whilst not having much change in the actual production costs. And of course, for the people that say this will fund R&D costs, explain to me, why do their innovations never trickle down to Samsung's own products?

Waiting for that GN6 in the Google Pixel 10 Pro, assuming Google ends up not skimping out on camera hardware. I don't see a point in anything higher than 50MP, unless it's being used on a periscope telephoto, and even then, making one that is a 1.0"-type sensor is just not feasible in a phone. Also, the periscope telephoto would need to have a long reach and continuous variable optical zoom, and the entire result would be way too big to fit inside a phone, so it's all just impractical.
440MP must be for extremely specialist and specific usecases, and I simply don't see a point in 320MP, as if you specifically need such a high MP count, you'd definitely need the 440MP one, and otherwise, you don't even need the 200MP one.

Did Samsung just say that their 1inch sensor is too expensive to build into their own "Ultra Premium Flagship" phone?
Nah, 1500€ way to low for 1 inch sensor, somehow...
