We should really focus on giving true desktop experience on mobile OS. I can't help but keep thinking that both Android and ChromeOS can be converged together as a single legit mobile desktop OS.

Anonymous, 24 Aug 2023Unfortunately, we aren't seeing the same thing with Li... moreLol what? More than 95% internet runs on Linux servers.

Android uses Linux kernel , ChromeOs is nothing but another
Immutable Linux distribution like fedora silverline etc.

And how many Nintendo switch and playstation are sold and currently in use? They all use open source BSD as their base.

Do you realise how many open source technologies do you use daily? The backend databases of your favourite social media site, Front end made using open source languages like Java , python , kotlin etc
Browsers you are using are also open source e.g : Chromium and Mozilla quantum engines.

And List goes way long so don't comment nonsense like nobody uses open source technologies.

Anonymous, 23 Aug 2023"The smartphone market is currently in a slump, pressu... moreWell i agree with that on smartphone market.
But i also think there is huge house to grow.
I don't have the exact numbers on global smartphone or dumbphone or whatever devices 8 billion people use daily.
If 8 billion people just shell 100$ per year that generates 800 billion $ in revenue for the industry.
Just 8 billion people, not all different devices they use now or might use in future.
Hence there is not only the industry have room, but the house is there to grow.

dont-buy-arm, 24 Aug 2023ARM full year 2023 revenue was only $2.7 billion, only $500... moreI don't really like the IPO stuff at all.
If i own a private company and it generate revenue, growing 1% every year in terms of profit after all expenses then why sell it's share to private and public investors.
The last thing major companies do is IPO to gain a huge amount, that's it.
Otherwise who like highly regulated areas?
          Not me at least.

This should be long time ago

Worst think that could ever happens if there is one and only in world acting like that and lead by greedy people who want to have everything under control.
Those people deserve nothing else but a stomach stab by a dull spoon.

ARM full year 2023 revenue was only $2.7 billion, only $500 million was actual profit, and they want to convince everyone that they are worth over $60 billion.

Increased competition from x86 and RISV over the next decade, at most you might get a bit of profit from the initial FOMO effect at IPO, but sell quickly.
ARM is trending DOWN, not up.

To all illetrate here who and will comment "ArM iS tHe fUtUre"

                    NO IT'S NOT!
RISC is the future, don't forget how closed source Duopoly (Monopoly for a decade ) in x86 is bad and resulted in technology stagnation.

Don't make ARM this big , a company shouldn't dictate about which instructions set you must use.
Instead invest in RISC open source.

You can downvote all you want but this is bitter truth of closed source Monopoly & Duopolys.

AMD/Intel latest microcode crash the performance by 50% after this the performance feels like a 486 again x86 is so yesterday, ARM will soon own CPU's but I think risc-v is the way forward

Smartphone performance has gone beyond overkill couple of years lately. It's about time we see more development for Windows and Linux on Arm. They still need serious attention from all mobile apps and desktop software developers.

masayoshi probably smiling right now him selling ARM failed

There's also RISC-V. Even Apple has shown interest on that.

I really wish that x86 was open source and was used for mobile chips instead of ARM. ARM has been nothing but a problem since SoftBank's takeover, and they're going to eliminate innovation in the chip sphere. If Qualcomm is blocked from using their custom Nuvia cores, then ARM will confirm itself to be a cancer upon the semiconductor industry.

Inverse softbank: What they invest must be scam, and what they try to get rid of must be genuinely good.
