Same device from Apple and Samsung would be $350.
Xiaomi would charge $100 in China, but €400 in Europe

This looks the best out of all of them handheld devices that have pop out lately that are just large boxes.
But this PS Portal function is just dumb and useless. Like when you can only play the games you have on your ps5 so you cant even play the games that you have on ps4 and no for the stream gaming of all the new games and old games with the monthly fee they have.
From this what it has it looks like just a overly too big gamepad with large screen on it.
If they would make it as the premium streaming device to play games from cloud then for that price it would be awesome as it would make sense for the people and dont need to buy there large console.
To me all console's are just bad solutions and i dont want none of them. Like why the heck i want to have a console that cost me like 500 euro and i then need to buy games that cost like 50 to 100 euro with there season pass and so on and then on top of it to get to play these games i need to pay subscription for there internet access that is totally dependent on the internet available for me in my location of what i also need to pay for to have.
While they have this concept of fight agains piracy so you need to be online to be able to play games even these that dont have multiplayer mode on them.
I dont know how much it is for month like 15 euro or something ? Then that for a year is 180 euro just to get to play online and then for 5 years you already have paid 900 euro for that. It's like 2 console's price.
With PS portal and have that 200 price on it then it would make sense for that cloud gaming fee but then again it needs to have the built in 4G and 5G modem and it needs to be so that you dont need a sim card or e-sim and you connect to internet trough the Sony and not trough the internet provider company that needs extra pay for that internet.
Thats why i am basically a PC gamer as there is no subscription or anything like that. Just buy a game and play it. The nerve to ask 60-70 euro for a game and then cant play it online without there subscription based system. Never mind that the console already cost too much for this type of system

imparanoic, 23 Aug 2023It's possible that it runs in Android(based on leaked ... morei think it might be running a custom OS but ieven if its android itll probably have some 10 year old chip since its not intended to directly run local games so i dont think emulation is a possibility but if it has a new chip+android then it can be

So it's actually not a true gaming console from Sony, just a gadget to the ps5.
Disappointed.!

Hemedans, 23 Aug 2023Actual Qualcom released 3 Handheld Soc today, one for strea... moreWhat I see in each one is...
G1: A78 (4) + A55 (4) - underclocked Snapdragon 888 GPU - Possible Snapdragon 6 Gen 2. Why cheap? Well, maybe is made by Samsung. It might be the Sony device to use.
G2: Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2. If Sony uses this, is possible, since they might sell at loss, but win in the long term. And it would be the best option. But it should have 8 GB RAM minimum.
G3: Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2. Maybe is the "PC" tier device.

It's possible that it runs in Android(based on leaked video on YouTube). and that you could in future run emulation without modifying it, imagine playing SNES, PS 1, Psp, n64 and possibly PlayStation 2 via emulation, a possibility of an extra bonus, nearest equivalent would be more expensive Logitech g cloud which also unofficially runs emulation up to PlayStation 2, but more expensive at USD 300, considering Sony don't lock their xperia phone for emulation or block side load apk emulation apps on their bravia TVs , very good possibility

"PS Portal brings an 8-inch LCD with 1080P resolution and a 60Hz refresh rate as well as the same controller layout as the PS5 DualSense."
An entry-level phone has better screen.

a handheld should be small not big. saying "HEY IM HERE COME SNATCH ME FROM THIS PERSON AND STEAL ME IM BIG AND BRIGHT AND CAN BE SEEN FROM SPACE COME AND ROB ME FROM THIS PERSON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
unlike with the psp and vita it was more like
"i'm not here and you don't see me and also....fck off thanks"

What's the opposite of "having your finger on the pulse"..?
Make a proper successor to the Vita or just GTFO

if they were smart, they'd bring back their psp line up, no disks (just digital downloads), at least 256gb ssd (with sd card support) and can link with the ps4 and 5 for remote play.
