Anonymous, 26 Aug 2023it doesnt matterI use a laptop which has a max TDP of 135 w for everything CPU+GPU+ram and it can run cyberpunk very well. M2 ultra can't, it's as simple as that.

It is true that x86 has made major improvements in the past three years. See where we were with the AMD r7-4700u and Intel i7-10510. Just look at the Intel i7-1365U, or even better the AMD r7-7840u SoC when running around 17W power. Meanwhile, ARM devices have slowed progress in terms of efficiency as of late.
The fact is the Mobile iGPUs still have better performance per watt, and ARM cores have better performance per watt too. Not to mention mobile memory which is now almost as fast as desktop modules.
The inflection point is around 30W when the cutting-edge newest x86 Systems start competing against slightly older bleeding-edge mobile/arm systems.

your immature TDP comparison of ARM SoC to that of a DGPU shows a lot about you...
You need to touch grass if you believe enterprises spending millions for this compute performance which can be easily rack- mounted with vertical and horizontal scalability machines cares about few thousand dollars spent on additional energy costs.

Does M3 ultra even has a si... moreFor $5000 on x86 you can get a complete last gen TR4 systems loaded with 512gb Ram, 32cores a couple of quadros which smokes me in real Professional workloads.

There are no RT cores in M2 ultra.

because they wrote the fact. apple product is made by apple and for apple. meanwhile the gpu (read the title) is design for work together with any pc build with much varieties. try to run something outside the apple ecosystem with it, don't simply locked yourself inside their ecosystem. and don't trust geekbench since apple has power on it.

Please tell me how much a diy system with components of a 7700x + B650 board+ 32gb ddr5 ram + 2TB NVMe + this RX 7800xt costs? Even if we include a RTX 4090, total cost would come under $3000 and real Professional and Engineers(with degrees and PHDs)
A top Mac pro model barely competes with a LAST gen x86 parts let alone newer gen as already reviewed by many professional outlets.
Yes macbooks are great as they are targeted at efficiency and does a good job( I myself own a m2 air) but that's it.
You are a fool to believe that enterprises spending million dollars on high compute platform actually cares about spending few thousands dollars on electricity bill.
