      i feel pity for iphone
iphone would have been really really huge hit if it would have come unlocked like other phones, since it has come locked to a operator there is a full stop on its success
apple better launch the next iphone unlocked or else its gonna get screwed really bad
phones like omnia, xperia, nokia tube, htc diamond and hd are gonna wipe out iphone >>>>

scoopyscoopy, 19 Sep 2008yeah, I know HTC Touch Flo is slow compare to iPhone. I nev... moreHTC should have used android on this phone, then there would be a big chance that it can be better than the iphone in all aspects and not just on paper.

Think about this. Even before this HTC HD, there were already a lot of other phones that looked better on paper than the iphone, yet they fail to bring the iphone down. Why? Because either their UI/OS is not good enough, or their hardware specs are not good enough, or their build quality is not high enough. The iphone prevails with the best balance between features, OS/UI, hardware, and build quality. That's the key, BALANCE.

Let's be honest and realistic here. Those so called extra "features" on phones, how excellent are their results that you can forgive its frustrating and disappointing poor performance? Why do you think I gave up the Viewty after a week? Not because of its features, but because of its poor performance and mediocre results. Why do think I gave up on my N95? Again, not because of its features, but because of its cheap build, just ok screen resolution, not so clean UI and creaky and lose build quality. Why do you think I gave up my HTC Diamond? Again, not because of its features, but because of its laggy, sluggish, unresponsive and erratic UI. Why do you think I love the iphone? Not so much on its features, but because it works smoothly, effortlessly, it's clean, and it's simply beautiful. Now why is that more important than those extra features? Because I have other wonderful devices like my Canon camera, my HP laptop and my HP pc at home that produce way better results than what those extra features on the N95, Viewty, Diamond can give me. So it's ok if I don't have an 8mp camera phone coz I prefer to use my Canon anyway. It's ok if I can't send MMS, coz I can email. It's ok if I cannot forward SMS because I can still compose an SMS. It's ok if I cannot transfer files via BT, because again, I can email or use Air Share app via iphone. I can still get things done and with actually better results. But you cannot find a work around for a smooth working, quality phone anywhere else but from the phone itself. Is that too hard to realize? Iphone got it right. Now if only other phonemakers would realize that, and for once learn and apply, then they might just catch up. Work on the quality of the essence of a device, not on what extras you can throw in.

In Touch features, Touch Flo is too - sub-standard compare to iPhone and on the other hand, iPhone is too sub-standard to compare to HTD Touch HD in terms of phone features and usability.

                    - iPhon's applications are too small to do anything and therefore, run very fast therefore, lost in features and functions
                    - I can live without multi touch but can't live without WM Features

But the thing is that we will choose HTC Touch HD over iPhone, simply to do the things, not just to play.

But I know when WM7 comes out with Touch features, then we won't be talking about iPhone at all..

It's the same UI as the Diamond, and I had the Diamond so I know how frustrating it is to use. But you are right, it's more responsive to the stylus or your fingernails, but good luck on the scratches.

Well as for the iphone. It's really what a full touchscreen should be operated, with your fingers, and nothing else. And there is nothing bad about it at all. It's actually nice because with my Diamond it responds to anything that hits it. With the iphone you can wipe it with a cloth even when its active.

Everything is quick with the iphone so I do not know why you say it takes a long time to get to a simple program. Can you be specific?

Bulky flesh? Hey, not all of us have fatty fingers like you, ok, lol. And please, HTC's touch flo is slow, while the iphone's fast, so it does not scroll like the iphone at all. Can you pinch in and out? You can't.

The guy just doesn't know how to use the touch screen. As you know it is a resistive touchscreen and it need a more precise touch like stylus or finger nail.

He was trying to use touch the screen like iPhone and it wouldn't work well. He should use a bit of finger nail and it should work perfectly.

Too bed for iPhone, it's can't use stylus and fingernail so that it will never do any small stuffs and it can only do the thing as big as an elephant.. LOL...

I think HTC should use capacitive screen and conductive stylus so that it can do both small and big things and finger swipe much smoother.

I hate iPhone because it takes a long time to do even a simple to do program as it is going though many screens.

I use FTouchFlo for my P3600 and it can scroll almost any program like iPhone UI but you need to remember to use fingernail not the bulky flesh.

Is it too much to ask for internal memory storage? 8GB, 4GB or even 2GB? And if you have taken the time to produce a 5MP camera for this phone, you could at least include some kind of flash.

Doesn't any marketing research go into the development of these phones? Really confused!!!!

The iPhone-killer is not a particular phone. It is a particular OS and its name is Android. All the manufacturers like HTC, Samsung, LG, etc can outdo the iPhone when it comes to hardware and features. What those other manufacturers lacked was the competence to make their own OS like Apple did. Now they have that thanks to Google. Give Android about 1-2 years when the Android Market grows and the sales increase. More developer support means more cool apps. Android Market will kill Apple's App Store. Screw iTunes. It will surpass the iPhone jailbreak community. The potential is endless on Android. HTC needs to wakeup and use that OS. Nobody cares about WinMo anymore.

This is a slick phone. Probably the best looking HTC ever made with all due respect to the SE X1. Shame that this wasn't the HTC Dream. If this was the first Android phone and priced at a subsidized price of $200, I'm going to say bye-bye to my iPhone and give it to my dad. It uses a resistive touch like the X1. Not capacitive like the iPhone and Omnia. That's why you can't slide it as smoothly with your finger.

Waqas, 19 Sep 2008U seem like an apple fanboy, ya diamond had its issues but ... moreI'm a fan of any cool device, not just of the iphone. I saw the video and there was a couple of times that it got stuck. Just like the Diamond, it does not respond quick enough when you slide through the icons at the bottom. You have to take it easy. Although I have to admit that the display quality is the best, but then HVGA is not that bad either for a 3.5 screen for normal viewing. It's only when you zoom in on pics that the VGA would have an advantage. As for BT file transfer on HTC, I don't know, I tried transfering a song once from my Diamond to my friend's samsung phone, and he never got the file. I was a little bit embarassed. As for forwarding sms, well for basic sms users like me, it's never an issue, but it would be an issue for those people who are fond of forwarding those jokes through sms which I believe is a waste of sms anyway. I'd rather get them on email so I won't go over my limit on texting. HTC should have used Android as the UI for this phone, then it would be totally better than the iphone, and I would sell my iphone for this, but nah.
