Apple will dominate the US market. It is an American Company with some of the best products. There is no rational reasoning why it shouldn't.
Samsung/HTC/Sony also good but they don't make their own OS so they cannot really compare to Apple...

Apple is ok but boring ,it does work easily and smoothly but that it I cant complain about that but geeks want a stack more stuff..Even Symbian and Blackberry are more functional and customisable and proper smartphones over the simple IOS system..
Shows folk are getting wise when they are cherry picking music to buy the 16GB version only instead of being violently ripped off by apple mega super overcharging for extra memory that costs then pittance..Where I am Cheshire Uk iphone is well out of favour ..
I am still excited to what apple brings us next but if its a silly upgrade even the most hardcore wont bother with it,,it will be folk upgrading from 4s at end of 2 year contract that will buy..

Well, deal with it. That's where the reliable info is. How many companies release reliable quarterly info for you country? The US is probably the most profitable smartphone market. China may be larger overall, but that's low end and local brands making up the bulk of sales. And good luck finding reliable and consistent numbers from there. The US is arguable the most important smartphone market. Apple, Samsung, Nokia, HTC, even Sony, all officially announced their flaghips in the US, deal with it.
