Seems like a Lytro lightfield cam is coming to a smartphone, large screen, and with Nokia's 41MP pureview sensor, it should produce a decent HD still or video...

Sounds much more interesting than billion pixels behind a tiny lens. The resolution though can't be very high, or if it is, the depth information must be reduced. Imagine a 10 mp picture with depth information from one feet to infinity, every inch, pretty big files.
There's always a catch with these kinds of innovations.

Anonymous, 05 May 2013Htc one 4mpix is the best camera phone today, even much bet... morethat is the funniest statement i have read in a long time, the htc one is an ok camera, but there are far superior camera phones on the market, and htc cannot be even compared to the 808 pureview, that nokia camera is the best camera phone period, but nokia developed it as a test to see if they could actually develop it, also the nokia n8 is still one of the best cameras around even today, just a shame it is on symbian, if it was on a new android or wp8 device it would be awesome, even now i have a nokia n8 as a second phone and it beats almost all phones in every situation, i even take it underwater with a skin and it takes far superior pictures then any other mobile phone

Nokia are simply the best in terms of cameras. PureView rocks, the 920 has the best low-light camera, while the 808 with 41 megapixel... just unbelievable. Both beat HTC One's UltraPixel too.

Come on! 16 lens on how much space? Same space on chip as one. And how can it be better? Sharper image, no!!! Only more noise in dark conditions. You must do something with chip, not lenses.

Ha, you'd wish for such a small sensor, try something like 10mpx, after all it's Nokia, not HTC(Half Technical Crap)

Other brands do what they can, sony is number one at the camera, and will be more time.

AnonD-59657, 05 May 20131 HYPER MP camera! Something like HTC 4MP camera.Naa! Don't compare with HTC. Nokia has its own image in camera phones. HTC, is already facing delay in it's flagship and other on-board issues. Feel sorry for the company.

@ this article, seems like Nokia is pushing it's limits. At hardware, they are fine, at software, they are fine. Camera - God. Let's see where the competition goes in 2014.

And just like every other phone it will have a mediocre sensor and a pathetic 2 mm lens that captures more noise then detail.
