A55 with Exynos? No thanks I'd rather pay extra and a proper flagship with Snapdragon. It would be better to use Exynos on lower spec phones under 50 series.

Since sd 778G era midrange had strong gpu to compete with previous flagships, 778/780G was on par with sd855 and sd 7+ gen 2 is better than 888 and can compete with 8/8+ gen 1 in sustained tasks. Even Mediatek had 8xxx and 1xxx series to compete with flagships. Only Exynos (if you excluse Limited release E1080) lack midrange soc to compete with flagship, this news just comfirmed that.

That is impossible to play on and when the game crashes as clockwork after a few minutes, that makes it even less playable. Literally. Meanwhile, I get 120 FPS on my Flip5, with a WFHD resolution display.
There is a discernible difference in the way that it is buttery smooth on one and completely unplayable on the other. 😋

... moreWhat a GPU does has very little to do with the CPU. Also, the GPU and CPU are almost always integrated on the same chip on mobile, making that claim even more nonsensical.
The chipset/platform is definitely a bottleneck for mobile but that does in no way mean a great GPU won't add better graphics or power management than a bad GPU.
APIs are completely irrelevant in this discussion. That's pure software and has nothing to do with what the hardware is capable of.

No it doesn’t. The bottleneck on mobile is CPU, in contrast to desktop where it is GPU. Different architectures, different APIs, not comparable.

A smartphone is a mobile gaming device. A better GPU makes as big difference as on your desktop. Putting an '80s style GPU in entry level devices definitely makes zero sense. I have a spare Moto G13 in case I'd lose my phone, and its GPU is completely useless for gaming. Constant crashing, freezing and impossible to do anything. And you want worse performance than that?

It won't happen but can you imagine it they lowered the entry for strong GPUs for the low tier smartphones
Mobile gaming would expand much faster with that larger user base
Oh well back to reality with folks that have snapdragon 8 gen 3 and a bionic 26 to take pictures and scroll tik tok for $1000
