why do they always use China and India instead of China and global models? It's not like India is the only country in the world. Same thing with Europe

Samsung for life, 06 Sep 2023It is not about new features only. It's about securit... moreSecurity updates and some underhood improvements are usually included in security patches, except if there's a new feature related to this introduced in newer version of Android, then isn't this also counted as "new feature" update that I mentioned before?
"More apps support" is more something that related to hardware or some specific new feature that needed on newer Android version. Otherwise, Android is a long-life OS, so app incompatibility is not even a problem. 90% apps that run on Android 13 is still runable on Android 6 in this 2023.
I'm not saying that you're wrong, in fact that it's actually true, but I just give a bit more information about this. And yeah will be fun if they just give 2 OS updates to this phone, because company like Samsung also did the same thing with their A0x lining.

Although I'm fond of Moto devices, especially the G series, the main drawback remains the lacking software support. Not only the fact that there is only one major upgrade but also that this sole major upgrade takes ages to be rolled out. With the G31 I used to have that that launched with Android 11, I only got the upgrade to 12 when 13 was already launched. Also the security patches are not monthly, only at the beginning. Now that said it's better not to guarantee more if you cannot handle it properly but on the other hand it's Lenovo's own choice to have a shitload of different devices with two different OS'es to support. And that is somehow the main issue with most Asian made devices. To many different devices, all with (slightly) different specs depending on the market they are made for. Trying to off class leading SW support would be extremely expensive and difficult.
On the other hand you could also argue if it's necessary to have major OS upgrades each year. Most of the time these upgrades don't bring a whole new world of stuff other than creating misplaced expectations aimed at mainly driving customers to buy newer devices (And boy did they succeed at it. I used to not care at all about major upgrades but lately I've let myself be mislead-ed by them and became hungry for all this shit) . It would make more sense to only have major OS upgrades every two or three years and just release minor upgrades if beneficiary (e.g., to power efficiency...) or necessary for some reason (e.g., solving critical vulnerabilities). This way companies would have a lot more time to focus and getting all shit right, test it properly and releasing stable new versions that don't require quick updates to fix bugs.

Dr. Watson, 05 Sep 2023Not half bad, and kind of funny how the Chinese version get... moreTbh for midrangers 3/4 years of security patch is more than enough, because that's what actually what's the most important part from software update. Ngl but those new Android version becomes boring nowadays because of the minimum amount not-too-exciting features that they introduced since recent years.
