      But unlike typical consumer electronics brand, the Apple brand is now a luxury brand. When consumers buy iPhones, they are not buying the phone, they’re buying the brand that gives them status symbol and prestige. And prestige is priceless. That’s why Tim Cook is confident in people stretching their wallet for the Apple brand. It’s been shown time and time again. $999 iPhone X was best seller. 14 Pro and Pro Max also outsold the regular 14. Also, iPhone prices have already reached $1200-$1500 in some markets, and it didn’t stop people from buying them.

      Take a young person in a developing world. He couldn’t afford a house nor a car anymore, the traditional status symbol. Compared to those, a $1200 iPhone becomes really cheap to have as a status symbol.

Of course it's a bit out of reach for me because even though it was groundbreaking some areas, it was still felt greedy to my eyes. But now, the greed could clearly be seen 5 generations of iPhones later because of:
        1. Only incremental updates year after year
        2. Refusal to adopt USB-C. Relented after EU stepped in.
        3. Old chip inside brand new iPhone 14
        4. Rumours of price increase just because "titanium frame", "new camera system", and "256GB base storage" on the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro Max
        Come visit macrumors, you'll see all the satcastic remarks on most users there.

        Of course, other brands are guilty as well. For example: Samsung with its incremental updates, refusal to put advanced cameras on their Fold & Flip, and copying Apple's greedy techniques (25W charging, no chargers, etc). Google with its limited OS upgrades and low build qualities. China brands rebranding their entry level phones, making them look new, and putting old Snapdragon 695 inside their phones. Some of them are even sneaking their adware built into their skinned Android OS.

        At this point, I patiently wait until people could not hold their frustrations and anger no more.

          I really really hope Apple gave users a bone by giving 256GB as base storage. It’s quite ridiculous seeing $1000 phone having just 128GB today when NAND chips are dirt cheap.

          IMO the analysts would be correct, that the 15 Pro models will be best selling despite the price increase. Apple is smart when they decided to stick last year’s SoC into the regular iPhone. It’s already proven with the 14 models where the 14 Pro models are selling more. Many tech sites talking how the regular 14 and 14 Plus not selling well as bad news. On the contrary, Apple is happy as that means more people buying the more expensive pro models. More money for Apple.

          And let’s see how Apple cheapens out their $1200 phones by using BOE panels.

For that time to come, I will patiently wait. At some Apple specific forums (which I closely followed as I'm one of the keen user of that brand), most of their members are furious the moment they heard rumours about price increase.
              I personally do not know about Samsung's and Google's, as I do not use Samsung since Note8 and Google never sold here in my country. But I suspect the reaction is not too far off. After all, nobody loves price increase without substantial and meaningful improvements.

                My take:
                Yeah, this is the sad era of our tech nowadays. I do miss the golden era of olds where the tech & features inside phone are the news, where you could design your own shell to make your gadgets uniquely you.
                And about Kirin, I'll patiently wait for what they will bring to the table. Fiercer competitions always good for us consumers, as lack of competition will only bring complacency, stagnation, and (even worse) a monopoly.

                  Well only Apple and maybe Samsung and Google can slap new CPU and GPU into same body and ask 300 more price increase for that.
                  In case of Apple they added USB-C which is just replacing one maybe 5 dollar worth connector for another 5 dollar thing.
                  Which is not even same since it will niot have support for 150-200W charging bricks.

                                  Why do you say so? The iPhone 15 dummies have matte sides so this should represent how they will really look. Aluminum can be polished. Every news site says they will be matte based solely on the fact that the titanium Apple Watches were matte.
