What I personally see as the biggest issue with the Air is the pricing. The base model comes with 8/256 and many people would like to upgrade both, but then it gets closer to the Pro. So I‘d prefer if they kept the M2 but in return lowered the price (like the MacBook Air M2 in 2022) or doubled the base RAM to 16 GB (like the MacBook Air 13“ 2015 got doubled RAM to 8 GB in 2016).
What is also possible is that they do both a bit by including the M3 and increasing the base RAM to 12 GB. I‘ve also read rumors that M3 Pro or Max variants had RAM equipments that were multiples of 12 so that’s possible.
But in general, I hope for some kind of storage/value improvement in 2024, either by lowering pricing again by $100 across all models or increasing base RAM (or SSD).
