Boredom. Every year the same thing - marketing brainwashing.
Three years in a row the same chip in Watch 6, 7 and 8. In fact, this corresponds to their innovation cycle which is 3-5 years. But the biggest joke is the design and the one-day battery life - unchanged from Day 1.
Regarding iPhone 15, I don't even need to comment something with still 60 Hz refresh rate display.

They want you to buy new watch every year because a perfectly fine watch will become useless within a year as the battery gets worse and wont even last for 12 hours.
in addition, they will never provide a battery replacement option and thus rendering the watch useless.
Everything is done intentionally. A device that can last for 4-5 years easily becomes useless within a year creating more e-waste of perfectly working gadgets.

And I dont get why Phone and Watch displays have to crank up to 2,000 - 3,000nits (even in burst small time). Even 1,000nits or 800 nits is very visible already in direct sunlight. It just consume more power.
When will Apple realize that Watch should need to have more than 1-2 days battery life. It not as if it could charge completely by

18 hours battery life still? After this many models? Apple really do trade on past successes. Charging this much for not even a full day of battery life when you know they can do it.

I'm using an Amazfit GTS mini. The battery life is excellent, but it can't import GPX or KML files. I just need to see if I'm on the correct trail. I don't want to take my phone out just to do that.

Anonymous, 12 Sep 2023I need at least 4days battery. Which is why I still use Garmin, instead of Apple Watch or Samsung. But the Apple Watch Ultra model already gets over three days with screen on demand, so it may get to 4 day this year. Still, this is as good as it gets today for a smartwatch.
