YUKI93, 18 Sep 2023That is interesting. We Malaysians never officially get the... moremmWave 5G tech was indeed the selling point of Xperia Pro (2020). Xperia Pro (2020) is the only Xperia in Sony-Alpha-supervised era that doesn't emphasizes on camera like the other Xperia did, but the screen is the one emphasize the strongest here, as the viewfinder for broadcasting purposes, so making mmWave 5G tech as its core feature are the reason why Xperia Pro (2020) has very limited market launch compared to every Xperia sold since 2019/Alpha-takeover era.

I would love to see a capable and advanced Xperia 1 vi at the MWC 2024.
However, I don't think this is going to happen because of:
Historically, Sony has released its Xperia II in February, the Xperia III in April, and the Xperia IV and V in May.
So, there is a tendency to set the respective release dates later rather than earlier.
The time between end of July 2023 and February 2024 would be unusually short to develop and release a new flagship.
Moreover, people who just bought a new Xperia V may feel betrayed when a successor comes out just few months later.
Another peculiarity would be the 6x "large sensor" module.

Anonymous, 19 Sep 2023Not wrong. Just because it's higher resolution than ot... more1. Xperia 1 has the brightest screen in manual brightness slider mode. Only brighter screen is Samsung S23 Ultra when Extra Brightness is turned on.
2. Louder speakers don't mean they are better just like how you said higher screen resolution doesn't mean it's better screen. Sony speakers are EQed for voice with less subby low end
3. Battery endurance of Xperia 1 outlasts any Android flagship phone out there sans Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. Endurance of Xperia 5 bests Samsung S23 and iPhone Pro
I don't want to comment on camera cause we could go back and forth all day

SuuperBaka, 19 Sep 2023"They've been behind in speakers, display, camera... moreNot wrong. Just because it's higher resolution than other high resolution displays doesn't mean it's better. Especially when the brightness is matching 6-8 year older devices.
Auto processing means a lot. Especially when manual processing offers no advantage. Others have more than capable manual modes. And the raw files do not offer anything special over others.
As well as more quiet than average and all but average sounding speakers and smaller batteries with lower usage times until recently.
On and on. But they cost more and their pages are full of fans that defend them worse than Apple fan pages used to be.
Which is so sad for the nice devices they still are and the potential they have.

Anonymous, 18 Sep 2023They've been behind in speakers, display, camera, batt... more"They've been behind in speakers, display, camera, battery, availability, stability, features, and sometimes even Soc."
Wrong, Only in brightness but better in resolution, only in auto software processing, I've explained this go back and read again, wrong, sure but that's not hardware, wrong.
"The battery only recently caught up. As are other aspects only starting to catching up. If you don't know where they sit as being equal, ahead, or behind on aspects then you shouldn't be commenting."
Stop, if you're referring to battery capacity sure, but in terms of endurance, it's been up there. Again, you are the one who has no idea what they're talking about and you are being disingenuous by taking out context. Typical behaviour from you.
"Its sad when a $2500 phone matches the brightness of an 8 year older device which defeats the entire purpose of its "professional" use which according to fanboys justifies its ridiculous price."
Buddy, it's 2023, not 2020.
Which device are you referring to? The Xperia PRO? The one that's meant to be used as an external monitor, the one that's built completely differently from the regular Xperia lineup? Please continue to show how much of a troglodyte you are.
Another thing that shows you don't understand how business works. Who do you think is the target audience for those devices? The average consumer buying an iPhone or Samsung? No, clearly not.
"And yes it can be 4k and still be behind."
Yes, it's called making a compromise. Other displays do this for resolution.
"And photos can have more accurate colors with a little less sharpening and still be processed and behind in other ways."
Such as? If a photo is accurate with colours, has low noise, and uses less sharpening, what other way is it behind?
You're just waffling. Sony does offer some of the latest in mobile photography tech such as a brand new sensor tech and a continuous variable telephoto lens (even if it's still in its infancy and does need improvement). Huawei is one of the few others that offer innovative tech.
"Time to get educated."
Yes, it is time for you to get educated.

You keep saying a lot less but you haven't specified. They have the same CPU, RAM, and battery capacity. The only argument you have is software and I agree that area needs to be worked on.
