        Apple very very carefully changes the battery sizes of each model each year. They do this sometimes by increasing it, sometimes by decreasing the capacity. They basically want to maintain a similar level of battery life among their devices. If word got out that the newest model has an +50% extra battery, everyone would scramble and upgrade, but no-one would want the next-year model. The reason the capacity goes up is because some years the device gets less-efficient due to the new components (thirstier radio, screen brighter/faster/more rich, processor faster/new features, etc etc). And the capacity goes down other years due to opposite reasons. A last reason to play with the battery capacity comes back to the physical attributes of the phone. If they need to make it thinner or lighter.

        Just observe the changes from the iPhone 11, 12, 13 series. And note which phones got which new features and efficiency upgrades, and how it all correlates between one another.

        In-general, iPhones do increase battery life over the long-run. So Apple is no stranger to actually slowly improving their phones. But we see a bigger variance in their year to year differences. But that is nothing compared to the fluctuations we see on Android Phones, just compare Samsung S10+ vs S10-5G vs S20fe vs S21+Exynos vs S22+QC and see the real-world battery life fluctuations.

If you consider device price as 1200$, that put net profit in the range of 350-380$ per device and you think spending an extra 1$ per device will break the bank for apple. Really?

                  1. smaller battery = more recharge cycles per day

                  2. more recharge cycles per day = more recharge cycles per year

                  3. more recharge cycles per year = the faster you run through 800 cycles

The reason why big companies don’t make obvious changes due to high costs for their scale of the company. Even 0.01$ different can make millions of difference when produce in a mass production.

                            My sister had S4. She had case on, still frames started to peel.
                            No surprise, because before S6 samsung phones extremely cheap construction for flagships.

                                Y'all should do an apples to apples (pun intended) comparison to see the actual efficiency gains from the A17. For example, take the iPhone 15 and Samsung S23 and give them the same battery (5000 mah). Then do a battery drain test.

                                      Funny how they raise the capacity by little every year. Fans will have to wait a decade just to get a 5000 mAh cell

                                        I would hope that the battery in a minorly larger new phone would be at least minorly larger.
