Why do I need to pay over 1000 bucks now to get a big screen phone? Below it's always tiny phones with less features for you and no battery life like the Pixel 7a and 8...
Who uses 6 to 6,2" phone in 2023 anyways besides a small but very vocal minority?

While 187g is a little on the lardy side, I think I could live with this and the dimensions are great if correct.
Hopefully the thing won't be too expensive. Do Google usually have pre order deals in the uk as I've never bought a Pixel before.?

Also overheating during video calls.

This is the main reason it heats up like wild, throttles when heated up and drains the Battery without a plausible reason.

I don't know about individuality but with tensor chip, Google have lot to lose. I had one pixel phone previously, I moved away from pixel and I won't consider to enter into pixel lineup again as long as there is tensor chip.

I think Qualcomm is all rounder chip, not just gaming chip. Majority portion of population want an all rounder phone, not just an AI gimmick.

Allegedly, the sensor of the periscope camera and also the sensor of the ultra wide angle camera will have a Quad PD sensor. But the periscope camera is expected to use the Samsung GM5 sensor, which doesn't have Quad Pixel autofocus.
Currently, the Google Pixel 7a and the Pixel Fold are the only Google phones with the Quad PD specification (official specifications) as far as I know. Dual PD = Dual photodiode is a Dual Pixel autofocus sensor (one microlens over two subpixels), so Quad PD should be a Quad Pixel autofocus sensor (one microlens over four subpixels). The specs for the 7a state: "Quad PD and Quad Bayer"
But of course it's possible that the marketing team made a mistake (for example, the specs of the periscope camera of the 6 Pro even don't mention that the 48 megapixel sensor is a Quad Bayer sensor) and that they actually meant Quad Bayer. Otherwise, it should be theoretically also possible for Samsung to modify the GM5 sensor. But according to a paper from Sony, Quad Pixel autofocus sensors offer a low sharpness than Quad Bayer sensors in their high resolution modes.
Also, Octa PD means Quad Bayer Dual Pixel autofocus even though there are not eight subpixels below one microlens. This makes it even more difficult to know what they mean by Quad PD.

I was hoping for only 2 things from the Pixel 8:
- Upgraded camera (GN2 sensor)
- greatly improved efficiency and battery life
That's all I was looking for. Unfortunately, from the latest leaks, it looks like all I'm getting is:
- Same GN1 sensor
- Same (poor) battery life
- price increase +$100
...time to look elsewhere.

By the way, the full camera specs (the periscope camera is upgraded, too, approximately 20% larger effective lens diameter) and even the marketing material for the online shop were leaked a few days ago.
