Samsung Galaxy S23 FE upgrades the camera to 50MP, uses last year's flagship chipsets

04 October 2023
The new FE pairs the SD 8 Gen 1 and Exynos 2200 chips with 8GB of RAM, while the main camera leaves behind the old 12MP sensor

When you look at the progression for the FE range you will of course see incremental increases in specification, just like the S range

So for me this is a big, colossal, enormous, gargantuan, huge, immense, monumental, substantial (ooh alpha order) unknown.

Why when for years the camera island set up on S range and FE range were unique.

The S23 FE camera island is that of the A range. A whopping mistake, you won't see Apple following suit)

People who visits this site are already CLUED UP, so don't need me or others DY! to tell them or text them what phone to purchase.

But I will say this as it is a safety issue, avoid the iPhone 15 [Incandescent Phone 15, cmon it's a hot topic)

The S23 FE pricing is (see above alpha order) 60000 INR is £590.00 today 08/10.

Much has been said of the S23 FE to the A54 ( well they do have the sane camera island!)

In the UK you can purchase a BRAND NEW SEALED S23 for the SAME PRICE

On SoC the title is not really fair, also only Apple Pros get the latest SoC.

The Snapdragon 8 gen 1 and the Exynos 2200 use was easily predictable.

It us early days, so whilst there is no review at date , the Google Pixel 8 is direct competitor" to the S23 FE

The three cortices are ALL underclocked, reason I have no idea.

The Pixel 8 may? post marginally better benchmarks than the S23 FE, but cannot justify it side by side an then look at the price which us above the S23 FE.

The justification in this is purely launch dates as both released "now"

It's really a preview of the phone you maybe using fo the next 2 or 3 years

Sometimes you are willing to even pay a premium just to get the phone you want, without some person just given you the highlights in a phone shop

    I find it expensive for what is in it, including the camera. Or maybe you pay the Samsung brand...

      Ki124, 04 Oct 2023Haha. Here's quick list of current bloatware apps in ... moreHalf of these are essential in Samsung phones.
      Like how can you install themes without Samsung Themes store?
      How can you get a password saved with no Samsung pass?
      And then you get the keyboard part wrong as all Samsungs i used since Android 7 they only come with Samsung Keyboard and not others pre-installed.

        Dont want to be rude but my Moto edge 40 pro with 12GB ram and 256GB disk space costed me 789 euros 3 months ago. This thing is 200 less with much worse specs. nad much less ram and half of base storage of my motorola.
        Not to mention i had in box nice case, 125W charger plus cable.
        Samsung gives nothing.

          It's a joke how a website like GSMarena cites selfie camera reduction from 50MP to 12MP is a bad thing. I don't particularly like the phone but this criticism is bullcrap and you know it.

          It's more about the processing than just the MP numbers, GSMArena.

            12GB is enough for future proofing for 4-5 years.
            16GB is more than enough & anything beyond this is overkill.

            If a smartphone is struggling with 16GB RAM even in 5-6 years in future then blame lies on Android/Smartphone brand/Apps developers to not properly optimise App.

            However it is entirely possible that rather than optimising apps to use available resources judiciously,apps canbe forced to use higher amount of RAM to save cost on optimisation as higher capacity RAM is not that expensive to lower capacity RAM.

              Also if i need some service/app then i can download from play store,why do i need to keep all these while im not using most of these.
              .

              * 4 AR apps = gimmick, no real functional use.

              * Dictionary = if i needed one in my phone i can download from 1000s of Dictionary apps.

              *2 Link to Windows = why not make it just one app to do eveything related to PC & DEX.

              * 2 Message apps (Google & Samsung)...Yes it's true.

              * 3 Keyboard apps (Gboard,Samsung,Swiftkey...Gboard was uninstallable only)

              * My Galaxy = Bloatware

              * 2 Drives (Google & Onedrive)...why?

              *Private compute service= use unknown??

              *Private share = core feature to send data securely (but with other samsung phone only,but regardless canve useful to some,not complaining
              )

              *Samsung Cloud =core feature to backup data from Samsung phone,then what is the meaning of giving OneDrive/G-Drive also...Other phones also make backups but they don't come with 3 Drive/Cloud apps.

              *Samsung core service = this is part of System not apps (not bloatware)...okk? might be useful to some
              *Samsung Free = any Android phone has its own news stack app/widget,but it doesn't make it necessary...but let'sconsider it to be fine.
              Samsung visit in,Samsung Push are unnecessary junk regardless of their status.

              With so many Preloaded apps/software features, OneUI feels unnecessary cluttered manytimes.
              Samsung has some kind of agreement with Microsoft that's why most of Microsoft apps were already present in my phone along with all Google apps. So this certainly made a mess,such practices canbe tolerated in Chesper phones but in flagships...no way.

              Also for you information,not everyphone does get same firmware in all the regions.maybe some of mentioned apps don't come bundled in your region but for my region,it comes with quite a few preloaded junk as mentioned earlier.
              My last phone was Stock Android & used it for 4 years,so I know which apps/preloaded services are useful to which extent.
              That's why i mentioned all the apps that are not necessary for Functionality,most of these are to fulfill specific use case scenarios for some target users.so these are not must for everyone clearly.

              So that's why i believe giving option to choose between cleanest possible interface possible in OneUI without all these & Fully loaded interface for target users, during 1st boot of device is the best.

                8 - 12 GB is enough for now for most people for even the most demanding tasks on a phone. If you need more than that, buy a PC or laptop and do whatever you need to do properly.

Some regions have different apps on them and Google's Messaging app is installed on certain firmware versions.

                  The same goes for the keyboards, Swiftkey, and Samsung come preinstalled and cannot be uninstalled.
                  The apps you get differ by region. Try loading another region's firmware and you'll notice differences.

                                I don't know about EU But here in South-East Asia,Samsung phones come with many unnecessary junk & many of them are notoriously persistent, you can't uninstall/disable them.

                                Besides your previous comment was about RAM+ feature(Virtual RAM)
                                Actually it's nonsense to have in any smartphone, because even fastest UFS ROM storage has no match for Actual RAM in terms of write/read/consistent use with high speed operations.

                                So with RAM+ feature you are forcing ROM Storage to work as RAM so it causes much faster degradation.

                                So if your phone can manage with it's built in RAM then never use this feature,use only in desperate needs/Ultra low end device/RAM only.

                                    Mostly disappointing phone. Power hungry chipset, no bump in battery capacity despite being 15% heavier that last gen, no headphone jack, no MicroSD slot, and low internal storage. The only good things are cameras (proper 3 camera setup) and the base price (which we will certainly see a 1000%+ markup on the storage upgrade).
