Child labors working for minerals in conflict zone, overworked and underpaid chinese workers, and the environment pays because of the pollution from these producers.. You'd think with cheap selling price they'd bother disposing waste properly?? Meanwhile Nokia HMD is EcoVadis platinum rated.. I'll pay more for fairness and future sustainability.. I'll pay more to boycott child labor and modern slavery

Great phone I use it every day, it's nice to see they have stuck with IPS LCD display and not AMOLED which most devices use nowadays, LCD is much better for my eyes and it's hard to find a good phone that uses this

The phone is supposed to launch with Android 12 but it immediately has the Android 13 update and September 2023 security patches. So it has 2 years of OS updates...

With the cheaper connector, that extra bezel has to be somewhere, with the top of the display unavailable being occupied by the front camera that left the bottom. It doesn't bother most of the buyers, so vendors won't change unless people switch their preference or the price difference disappear.

HMD are releasing a regular made in Europe XR21 for 549 which is still too expensive but more reasonable after a price cut.

I am from the EU also and would spend on EU product if the price would not include the magical European hand work that should be better then other regions of the world.
Same quality product from China is 2-3 times more expensive in Europe.
We still need to ship in materials cause we dont have infrastructure built for self sufficient where we have factories that do all the parts that should cut a massive cost for all the shipping the materials.
Also i would say that European hand work is lower quality then China hand work cause Chinese have decades of experience on working with electronics as mass production factories.

That chip is around 100-200k more points trough antutu benchmark score over SD695

Personally I would gladly pay extra for a phone manufactured in EU, but 699 EUR is a tough sell nevertheless. We'll see what Nokia brings in future, I respect their move to return to Europe in each case.
