smart ring is not a new thing. basically it is a smart band with no screen. Oura is one of the most popular ones. I wonder what samsung will put new on the table. this type of wearables were not so popular so far compared to fancy smart watches.

derrr, 09 Oct 2023I knew about the subscription and cost as well as its pros ... moreI mean, we had smartphones before iPhone, but they only really took off after iPhone. So, being the first doesn't mean much if you don't do it well. Having high price and a subscription on top is certainly not the right way to go. This ring needs to be cheaper and without stupid subscription.

Hopefully will not be one more accesory made by Samsung ,as all knows Samsung sensors accuracy are worst even than some cheap fitness bands or many Huawei watches released 2 years ago!!!

Mention about XR made me realize how much I miss the Gear VR and all the fun content that was coming out every week or so. Too bad people don't like putting something on their head. We're too lazy for cool technology!

The thing costs 400€ (for some reason, simpler round ring costs more than more complex shaped plateaued one, why?!) and has a 6€ monthly subscription. Sure ring can be convenient for body telemetry if you like wearing traditional wrist watches so you don't have a wrist already occupied by a smartwatch/smartband, but that's just ridiculously expensive.

Said features are Okay with brands which could make same device half the price.
Like the Xiaomi or Motorola, Doogee, Oukitel etc.
Updates are important thing but not so much since time and age proven many old devices works pretty well even the updates are long time done.
Know several people with something like Sony Z1 or Z3 mini, Samsung S4 mini and Samsung S5 and Motorola E5 and devices still working very well.
Also have afriend who rocking Lenovo A7010 still perfect device to this day .

Ah come on Samsung release 2 versions the Hercules model for us men and make the slimmer version for females with lighter colours like pink, fuscia and lavender lol.
I think this report is full of garbage.
There is already a leader o. The market that has their 2nd generation ring - yet both are quite small already. Does anyone really think Samsung cannot reverse wngineer already without misuse on patents.
The first we heard of such a product was just 6mths aho so yeah mass production and orders of a product that needs to fit various finger sizes would not ideally be ready in less than a year.
