>Both phones did quite similarly in terms of standby and call performance, with most of the difference stemming from higher on-screen test times on the iPhone 15. This is probably achieved through a combination of chipset and display power efficiency
Definitely not, because the chip and display on the Pro are more efficient because they are newer. Just because something is less powerful doesn’t mean it is more efficient.

The Pro would've been an easy choice if only it weren't a lottery.

I really would have wanted the ip15 if it had 120hz. Cant stand with 60hz so thats the only reason Im going for ip15 pro.
You forgot to mention another important difference between the models in the article: the action button/mute switch.

Anonymous, 09 Oct 2023In 2h , my ipad when new used to have 50% .
That with 12W... moreWell it was a bit faster but this is a nightmare a disaster.
Really.
Charging a 3000 mAh device 2 hours its really stupid.

How about comparing Iphone 15 to Iphone 14 Pro Max? The best of last year vs the worst of current year..

777cobalt, 09 Oct 2023I'm still amazed that they're using 60hz displays... moreIts more because people who buy these phones just don’t care. The ones who care about high refresh rates care about the other features as well and will automatically choose for the pro variants. The only thing they want is the smoothness from iOS and decent cameras, Apple knows this and keeps separating their Pro variants even more from the other models.

newflesh, 10 Oct 2023I don't get all the fuzz about 120hz modes. Maybe it... moreIts what your eyes are used to. Switch for a couple of months and try going back, you can tell the difference from the first swipe. I didn’t really notice a thing until I used it for a couple of days and tried using my old phone

Basically iPhone 15 is the one to choose, unless you want better camera quality and 120hz maybe? Although not much different because iOS is so smooth and not so noticeable.

For me, the lack of ultrawide AF-macro shot capability is the main reason why Pro won.

I don't get all the fuzz about 120hz modes. Maybe it's valuable for those who play games on their phone but for me in regular use I can hardly notice the difference and actually use a 60hz mode to save some battery. I'm using S23. Now on my previous phone xz1 compact the battery saving dropped the refresh rate all the way down to 30hz and that was really noticable and felt sluggish. But 60hz was always fine so I'll trade the extra smoothness for 1 or 2 hours of SOT

justasmile, 10 Oct 202360hz iOS is actually smoother, otherwise about same smoothn... moreYour point makes perfect sense in the low end and entry level Android market (also includes Samsung phones), but not in flagships and stock Android devices.
I compared my Nokia 8 on battery saver mode to some of my colleagues' iPhones without any battery mode adjustments, and my phone is relatively smoother. Also the display on my phone is stuck on 30-45Hz (video playback upto 144Hz without adjustments) when both battery saver and adaptive battery are enabled.

Anonymous, 10 Oct 2023Announced for $800. Is it half? I think half is applicable for the Indian market. Pro is nearly double the price of non pro in India.

We cannot forget the inferior durability in drop tests of the 15 pro too.

777cobalt, 09 Oct 2023I'm still amazed that they're using 60hz displays... more60hz iOS is actually smoother, otherwise about same smoothness than 90hz budget Android.
I have an iPad Air and 14 plus with 60hz refresh rate, and the interface animations are extremely smooth, they fr were like they ran on 120hz.

Long story shor, get the pro only if you wan´t zoom capabilities.
Perfomance both will be fine, camera shots it´s relative and hard to notice (pro fans will say otherwise). Not saying there no reasons to get the pro, but i think the vanila model is way overlooked and it´s a fine phone that will probably suit most needs from users.
I´m happy with my 14

unfortunately both had pretty bad battery endurance and slow charging speed, yet they charge fanboy a lot
