TrainingAddict, 11 Oct 2023Sensor does not matter much when the digital processing is ... moreWhen I look at iPhone's pictures of trees on screen (1 To 1), I don't see foliage...I see digital processing...even if photo was taken by daylight!

On a big screen, overprocessing is a bad thing!
Oneplus has the same problem.
Pixel is more Ok.
Vivo with Zeiss and Xiaomi with Leica both provide more natural picture.
In my opinion, Vivo and Xiaomi should be ranked far higher on DXO charts...
And Apple far lower...

I'm a little afraid about generative AI (both Mediatek and Qualcomm are focused on)...in the future, will photos stay photos or will we get photo with fake moon (hi Samsung!), fake trees, fake Sun, fake clouds, oversharpened lines?
Processing shouldn't be the more important thing!

Its smaller size will be compensated by the double-layer build => They used that technique in the Xperia 1 V and called the sensor IMX888 and I wouldn't be surprised if the 966 and 888 or completely the same. JuanBagnell made a deep comparison between the 13 Ultra (IMX989) and the Xperia 1 V. No winner but he notes that the Xperia is better in video when you record action or fast moving things. Double-layer is also used in all new sensors from Sony (Lytia).

CargoJoe, 14 Oct 2023Only thing I dislike about the OnePlus phone is the camera.... moreThat's why we have GCam brother. Though OnePlus may shoot themselves in the foot by blocking access to aux camera stream (for 3rd party apps) yet again.

Only thing I dislike about the OnePlus phone is the camera. Looks too bright for some reason even in shadow details. Like there's something whiteish is smeared on top of it. Would like it better if it was a bit more natural. Like a processed camera. If only it had the same prowess as the Oppo Find flagships.

This sensor does sound to be similar to the ones in Sony's.

Now I'm using OnePlus 11 which also feels unique and different than all the other brands. I always wait till OnePlus releases a great phone. I wish I could have enjoyed the Oneplus 7 pro with pop up camera but work required an iPhone back then.

Anonsurf, 11 Oct 2023OnePlus is dead after op7I think so too, op7pro is the last phone where they actually tried every next one is just copying the competition.

Anonymous, 11 Oct 2023DSC said while ago many chinese would move to omnivision. ... moreIqoo will also use the OV50H. I think the regular Vivo x100 is going to use a dual layer sensor but the x100 pro is likely to stick to a 1" type main sensor according to leakers. Anyway, they will arrive next month so we'll find out for sure soon enough. The x100 pro+ won't be launched until next year though. The imx966 on the Oneplus seems to be a regular sensor (not dual layer).

Sensor does not matter much when the digital processing is very poor just compare any OnePlus with a Pixel or iPhone which makes up for it digitally

So far only mi 14 pro.

He did not say oneplus is using dual layer, just 1/1.4" that can also be samsung 200mp.

Oppo Find X7 Pro may have dual layer, while ppl are guessing a Pro+ will be made with imx989

why not 1 inch with this new tech for even better photos? 1 inch should be the standard for main cam

hopefully it will be everything the pixel 8 pro should have been, just mount an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor and give me a flat screen*
