DarlingYext, 22 Oct 2023Bring the real S Active series back!Possibly my favorite series of phones from Samsung to date. Durable and functional, without an overload of bells and whistles.

Also these phones featured a unique set of ringtones, not found on any other Samsung phones to date, which is another reason to love this series!

The only set of phones that serve as the true successors to these series of phones is the Nokia XR series, all thanks to similar or better craftsmanship, features and practicality.

I think this article misses out on the rare "Galaxy XCover FieldPro", which is basically a Galaxy S9 without the heart rate sensor, a removable battery and 16:9 display

Yeah. LCD is dying technology. Even for sub 150$ phone use amoled nowadays.

With finite lifespan of amoled, manufacturer are happy with that. Guaranteed phone replacement.

They don't make such phones, because they need less repairs and replacing of parts and it hurts the profits of evil companies

Anonymous, 22 Oct 2023I wish the major companies would make rugged phones again. ... moreeven both of those companies having difficulties finding spare parts. mainly LCD panels.

Wish they were globally released! And still made instead of the extremely ripped expensive xcover.

Insane how these phones were only 1-2mm thicker than their standard version but it made a huge difference on battery life. Really makes you think why we are not given a choice between design and useful features. I would take a thicker phone any day if it meant truly unkillable battery life.

Now the biggest difference is extra sensors and functions.

Then came awesome tests of iphones falling from space in rugged cases making them obsolete.
Best Rugged flagship now have IR cameras, Thermal cameras, ptt, 10k battery etc..
Now if it was with uw and tele cameras it would be perfect flagship, at least for those not afraid of slight weight increase.

I wish the major companies would make rugged phones again. Right now it's basically just phones of questionable quality and zero support from companies like ulefone and doogee

Bring the real S Active series back!

amoled on rugged devices kinda defeats the purpose.
