In their line of business, the only way to get a good profit is having something that the rest still don't have. Once a technology becomes broadly available, then price drops and with it the margin. That's the issue they are facing, and the only way to handle it without becoming a faceless OEM, is through innovation.

Is it success or failure ?.The lumia series, where the pick of smartphone innovation and made any other manufacturer look like a Trabant in the desert. The only thing Lumia series did not have was, people to adopt microsofts windows phone, and well the full support from microsoft to take their software to a new level and stopp killing it. Lumia series was not a nokia employee fault and definetly not because of lack of innovation and hardware. It was a combination of Microsoft not helping and killing devices with every OS update, the propaganda against them and their software and Steven Elope that practically destroyed two smartphone platforms in a second. One of them still being rubbed of features by the current platforms.
Lumia Series were thow very good devices, that google kept rubbing of spark when intentionally blocking youtube and other google platforms from working properly on windows phones, helped by apple and samsung that kept the troll bots and propaganda against nokia at hight levels, they probably spend billions into trolling nokia, because they knew they will stand no chance against NOKIA and NOKIA's innovation ability and knowledge if windows phones would take off. And it actually did in europe slowly rising, even with all that trolling and propaganda against them. But well then ms came in again and announced another platform kill, and with it all the devices using it, because well, the new OS was again not compatible with the old hardware, this is how lumia died...
So yeah, Lumia was a success, as we can all see, it's camera innovations was rubbed by all manufactures, charging innovations, always on display, that was actually "glance" and many other Nokia innovations are now used by others that are now what Lumia devices were 10 years ago...

As for nokia, you definetly know 0 about them and their business, in europe and not only, almost everything that makes the internet possible, uses a nokia device. And here we talk only networks, not their drons, and other business.
As for layoffs, even Qualcomm recently release over a thousand employees and microsoft over 15000, does that mean that they go broke? Go teach yourself some marketing, you might need it to spread more "uselessness" on GSMarena.
Huawei? Who are they? Ah the ones rubbing europe of tech, especialy Nokia? Even at that, they were doing a shitty job at cloning it, but for sure they jumped into the market by selling cheap so they can gain more market, the typical Chinese manufacturer business: clone it, sell it cheapper, push other out of the market, route all info for Comunist party. But well, europe got smart, not soon enought, but fast enough, at least we're now free of garbage placed in the most important parts of network infrastructure. Yeah i've heard about this Huawei, luckily they won't sell in europe and usa, their appliaces were doing a better job at stealing the information instead of actually routing it where was needed.

1. Nokia has nothing to do with smartphones, it has been said in every article about Nokia for years. Why people can't understand this is beyond me. They lease the rights to use their name, thats it. Next time it could be Samsung producing Nokia phones.
2. Though they do 3,4,5,...G equipment and other electronics, from what I know (and correct me if I am wrong) they make most of their money from patents (tens of thousands of them). So I don't know why they have 100000 employees in the first place
3. Fire the heads of sales and marketing teams, obviuosly they are doing a shity job and not adjusting their strategy to the current situation. Fire their bosses too cause they are not doing their job as well.

Why HMD manufacture 2G/3G phones in 2023 also, what is the purpose of that manufacturing those phones. It's totally waste of cost and there is no demand.
Why they choose 28nm CPU in 2023. so many phone companies are choosing 12nm CPU for their entry level phones in 2023, but HMD choose 28nm cpu in 2023. so, what is the reason for that.
Security updates are not received in every month, poor customer service for worldwide, their phone box packaging also not in a trusted way (box are open and no company seal also).
I think they do not follow the SWOT analysis and 7p also.
I think Nokia and Snapdragon combination is good and so many peoples they like also. but Nokia choose outdated cpu (28nm).
Customers they like 6.2" phones with fhd and snapdragon latest CPU, but Nokia manufactured brick size 6.5" phones with ugly triple camera setup.
Really triple cameras are no need for phones. because all the peoples are not photographers or movie makers. only dual camera setup (Main and depth) is much better for entry level and budget level phones.
We think fault is happened in decision making. still Nokia have a chance in market. forget everything and take a new step.

Look at the last four years for Nokia phones series. Which Nokia phone is best for current trend for each year and which Nokia phone is have the competitive price / reasonable price for their outdated technology phones?
Ex: In 2023 they released the phone with 28nm CPU for Nokia C12 pro. who likes 28nm CPU in 2023? check the Redmi A1 phone specs with this phone. So, who's decision is this? is it employees' decision or CEO or management? These peoples are not thinking what customers need and what they want in current trend.
If you take other mobile companies, they respect the users' opinions and even company staffs (including CEO and Management) they get down to field and collect the current customers opinion and existing customers opinions also.
Even last 7 years Nokia does not build their own design for Android OS, look at the other phone companies. they have their own design for Android OS. so, if they decide to reduce the cost for Android OS (Not build for own design) then they can invest that funds to give proper hardware specs for their customers.
Finally, they do not improve in software and hardware side also. So, who's decision is this?
Nokia you need to work hard like other phone companies (Xiaomi , Huawei , Motorola , OPPO and VIVO). without work hard their is no use to change the logo or design.
Customers always like better privacy and security also.
Now so many companies are reducing employees from their companies without making better strategy. These companies' managements are very lazy only, because they don't know to make better strategy.
Note: These lazy companies are busy with AI technology. This AI technology is spoiling our Children school life. These AI also keep our children very lazy in their school life like these types of lazy companies.
First of all, EU stop AI to use in school and other education sectors also and They have to release this AI with username and password to use for others.
Note: Nokia still we are with you. look at the other companies and work hard.

China holds a robust manufacturing sector and service sector.
Some will brag about their people will become old, that also don't matter.
In future AI will automate most of the manufacturing sectors.
Impact on service sector by AI would be slow but will happen.
Only thing china yet to prove is their military strength and that is concerning the ruling powers of current world.
If they prove their military, that's it cause the world order will see a new one again.
Most energy efficient powerful nations always stayed at the top and those who don't believe that look back into several years like 100 or 1000 year back mainly, you will find that.
