I guess I have no more reason to be loyal with BlackBerry.
I think I've wasted my money buying their Z10. Soon, I'll just re-sell this phone and get an Android or another iPhone instead. ;)

I strongly believe RIM wud hav considered several factors before taking the decision. One thing I know is that if they decide not to take such decision on time, Watapp application will definitely ruin their platform.

Excellent move from blackberry. However, I only wonder what kind of effect this is going to have on blackberry phones sales globally since BBM is one of their major selling point.

I believe Blackberry (formerly RIM) is in a self-destructive mode. First, they withdraw the Blackberry Music service, and now this.
But what I do wonder is, why did it take them so many years to take this decision? What we know right now, is that while we are falling in love with the Z10 (after much criticism 'fcourse, but usage is awesome- personal opinion); Blackberry continues to surprise us decisions that are failing constantly.
While few of us who have older Blackberry(s), and continue to pay additional amount for using BBM...only time will tell whether this will be a good strategy (or a strategy at all).
Having said this, I am well equipped to ditch my blackberry and move to iOS for good, once this happens.

AnonD-56158, 14 May 2013No one will buy blackberry phones anymore once iOS and andr... moreI think it won't happen, as Security on BBM on a BB device will be miles ahead of the security on BBM on android device.
